Ballard Spahr has an opportunity available for a Software Test Analyst to join our Project Management Office (PMO) within the Information Technology Department. The PMO is at an exciting point in its evolution. We have a skilled team across business analysis, UI/UX, and software testing that is maturing alongside project management. This role presents an opportunity to evolve this team’s position in the firm as we continue to make value investments in technology and business process improvements. This team supports the firm through high quality user-first design, business analysis, and quality software testing so that the benefit of our investments can be realized. This position is fully remote with occasional time in Philadelphia office for team events.
The Software Test Analyst partners with various members of the project team to understand requirements, contribute to project planning and status, build test plans, create and run test cases, and log and manage defects. This position has a key role in the project team for ensuring that quality exists in alignment with business needs, requirements, and the provided solution.
As the Software Test Analyst, some of the responsibilities you will be responsible for are as follows:
Learning and practicing agile and waterfall methodologies.
Working with system owners, business application owners, and project team members to develop test plans and test cases.
Providing testing and validation for software development projects of new and existing systems, including COTS and in-house developed applications.
Conducting interviews with, and serves as a point of contact for, project team members to determine criteria for testing and evaluating the functionality and usability of software applications.
Developing, publishing and implementing test plans and test cases.
The selected individual will be self-motivated with strong customer service and team building skills, have an exceptional attention to detail and problem solving skills and a high degree of initiative. Solid communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision on moderately complex tasks, set priorities and manage multiple deadlines are essential. Must be organized with the focus to sustain a high level of quality and consistency at all times, have a passion for driving change and a desire to improve upon delivery processes and standards.
Qualified applicants will have a college degree and 5+ years of experience with Software Validation and various testing cycles (Functional, UAT, and Smoke) and a minimum of 3 years developing test plans. Knowledge of software development and testing methodologies (Waterfall, Agile) and experience with cloud-based web applications. Experience with a requirements management tool or JIRA is required.
Additional years of experience in the absence of a bachelor’s degree will be considered. Demonstrated technology skills needed including software applications. Must be able to work beyond the standard scheduled hours, as needed. Previous experience working in a law firm or legal environment preferred.
