Summary:
The Communications Technology Specialist works under the direction of the Director of Communications, Marketing and Outreach to assist with all technical aspects of the Office. This position will provide technology support across the entire organization, including but not limited to: video conferencing and webinars, website updates, digital recordings and uploads, database training, company-wide emergency notifications, and other technical support as assigned. This position requires an enthusiastic communications professional with a demonstrated ability to implement strategic use of current technologies.
The Communications Technology Specialist supports the strategic goals of the New Jersey State Library (NJSL), and is responsible for performing technology-driven professional functions in collaboration with colleagues and using established policies, procedures, precedents, and guidelines.

Website
Job will include regular updating of NJSL website using WordPress (or another) content management system. This includes maintenance and monitoring skills as well as knowledge of data governance.
Video Conferencing
Responsible for running all meetings and webinars using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other video conferencing systems.
Social Media
Ability to upload all State Library video content to YouTube; video editing skills a plus.
Intranet
Maintains and updates staff intranet portal using SharePoint.Professional Development Training
Develop and facilitate regular staff trainings for all licensed software and technologies (i.e. Microsoft Office Tools, electronic library resources, etc.), as well as other staff professional development training topics as assigned.
-Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external leaders, and other staff whose functions intersect with assigned responsibilities;
-Think strategically and creatively to assist with developing technology and software support for staff;
-Handle multiple projects and changing priorities in a deadline sensitive environment;
-Work independently, as well as a team player;
-Use or learn software such as: Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Zoom, WordPress, Constant Contact, Microsoft Office Suite, Survey Monkey, Google Analytics; and others;
-Communicate ideas well both orally and in writing;
-Organize assigned work, analyze problems, and develop appropriate work methods.
Examples of work:
-Collaborates with staff across the agency to set up, record, and post webinars, online workshops and related content.
-Produces digital content and recordings and uploads to State Library’s various online sites.
-Updates and edits State Library web pages using WordPress or related software tools.
-Monitors website regularly to ensure that content is accurate and up to date.
-Ensures that all website contributors are following established standards, protocols and guidelines.
-Curates the State Library’s YouTube channel.
-Develops and implements MS Office, Teams, SharePoint and One Drive software and technology training programs for staff.
-Acts as the liaison between NJSL and all statewide electronic resource vendors; serves as the technical contact for public libraries and facilitates trainings with the vendors.
-Attends and participates in meetings and events related to assigned responsibilities.
-May serve on standing and ad hoc committees.
-Required to learn to utilize various types of technology information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
-Manages company-wide mass notification system to alert staff of emergencies or weather-related closings or delays.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis. Minimum of 1 year of prior experience in related field.
