Reporting directly to the University Archivist, the position of Archivist is a faculty position (non-tenure, 12-month appointment) within University Libraries at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
This is an in-person position located on the UAB campus in Birmingham. The Archivist will contribute to all aspects of the repository, including repository planning, reference and outreach, processing and arrangement, and the management of archival resources in an academic environment.

Required Qualifications:
· Accredited master's degree in library, archival, or information science with a special collections/archival focus
· Prior experience working in an archival repository with collections in a wide variety of formats
· Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment where consultation, flexibility, collaboration, and cooperation are essential, and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks and projects
· Demonstrated ability to manage and complete projects in a timely manner
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent attention to detail
· Ability to coordinate with faculty and staff in the repository, in special collections, and in University Libraries
· Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 40 pounds and to retrieve material from shelving units
· Actively supports UAB's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working with digital archival records and collections
· Experience creating collection inventories and finding aids
· Experience processing archival collections in various media formats
