Description of Work:
The Project Manager will serve in a leadership role on one or more projects focused on violence prevention among Indigenous youth based in Rapid City, South Dakota and on the Pine Ridge Reservation, which shares geography with South Dakota. The Project Manager must be located in close proximity to the Rapid City and/or Pine Ridge office. Remote options will not be considered given the importance of immersion in the community and consistent with participatory action research.
Specific job duties include overseeing day to day activities, timelines, and ensuring that project deliverables are being met; training and supervising staff and student interns; management of participant recruitment and retention; management of program implementation and data collection; management of advisory boards and community engagement; and assigning the PI and other leadership on UNLIRB and tribal approvals and dissemination efforts.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, public health, Indigenous studies, or related area plus one year of experience working with tribal communities; demonstrated knowledge of the multitude of Native American cultures, traditions, and histories may be considered in lieu of experience. The person in this position should also have exceptional interpersonal skills, a documented history of managing multiple staff and/or students, and an understanding of and experience with conducting community-led research. Knowledge of and experience with social sciences/behavioral research, experience working with Indigenous communities in research and/or practice capacities, and experience with prevention and/or intervention work in research and/or practice capacities. The person in this position must also have exceptional interpersonal and stress management skills, cultural humility and/or affiliation with one or more tribal communities, the ability to multi-task, and an understanding of and experience with research.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in psychology, sociology, social work, public health, Indigenous studies, or related area. Experience with: leading community-based prevention and/or intervention studies with Indigenous populations; community-based participatory action research; supervising Indigenous staff; university and/or tribal IRBs; leading advisory boards; research and/or practice on violence prevention among Indigenous youth.
