Stanford University's Office of Development (OOD) is seeking an Assistant Director for the IDEAL Initiatives and Programs team.
OOD advances Stanford's mission by raising philanthropic support from alumni, parents, families, friends, and institutional funders. Working in concert with volunteers and academic leaders, OOD staff members strive to accelerate Stanford's purposeful impact in the world. The IDEAL Initiatives and Programs (IIP) team provides leadership and support focused on strengthening philanthropic relationships within Stanford's emerging philanthropic communities, including those historically underrepresented. The team employs targeted engagement and giving strategies aligned with the interests, values, and priorities of these communities, and collaborates with development teams, the Stanford Alumni Association, and other campus stakeholders, to cultivate alumni donors and volunteers who share a commitment to Stanford's mission.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for IDEAL Initiatives and Programs, the Assistant Director, IDEAL Initiatives and Programs is responsible for project management, volunteer coordination, and portfolio support to advance this work and deepen relationships within Stanford's next generation of philanthropists.
Job Purpose:
The Assistant Director, IDEAL Initiatives and Programs will provide collaborative, strategic, and tactical support to fundraising programs and activities for the IDEAL Initiatives and Programs (IIP) team. Collaborating across the Office of Development (OOD) and with colleagues in school and units, and class giving, this person will assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with all university constituencies. Under supervision by the Assistant Vice President for IDEAL Initiatives and Programs, this person will work to assist efforts to cultivate relationships and giving within emerging philanthropic constituencies.
Your responsibilities include:
Program Management
Coordinate and facilitate program operations to enhance greater strategic focus by identifying and building proficiency and efficiency across our team and partners.
Assess and produce relevant, custom information (reports, charts, graphs and tables) from structured data sources.
Synthesize complex data quantitatively and qualitatively into reports and executive summaries.
Review and track funds and initiatives, and report on use of gifts, as assigned.
Prepare complex reports on a quarterly basis for IIP priorities, carry out analysis and recommend next steps.
Participate in development of budgets and/or projections for proposed initiatives.
Establish collaborative working relationships with colleagues across schools and divisions and support the IIP team in staying up to date on current priorities and needs that emerge.
Update and maintain IIP materials on the internal OOD resource hub, known as the "Corral"; manage and edit presentation of materials online.
Collaborate with marketing/communications in the development and execution of marketing efforts, including website, stewardship letters, and priority papers.
Organize the dissemination of materials and raise awareness of IDEAL-aligned priorities among fundraising staff.
Serve as a liaison with other schools, units, initiatives, and working groups.
Assist in research activities to inform strategies and stewardship for prospects and initiatives. Includes: retrieving and synthesizing donor and prospect information, updating records, and generating reports using Salesforce, Stanford's external relations database, and financial reporting systems.
Volunteer Management
Serve as a liaison with alumni donors and volunteers.
Assist in the planning and execution of volunteer-led initiatives, including the planning and implementation of meetings, webinars, and in-person events.
Provide support through communications, briefings, meeting minutes, room/materials and prep.
Portfolio Support
Assist team fundraisers with their portfolio management of assigned prospects.
Identify and leverage campus opportunities and resources for donor cultivation, engagement, and stewardship.
Assist in the planning and execution of strategic donor events, campus visits, and high-level donor meetings.
Bring a strong eye for design to create and edit compelling presentation decks and fundraising collateral.
Assist with establishing and deepening key donor and alumni engagement with Stanford through meaningful contacts. This will include drafting thoughtful written materials, (proposals, thank you letters, and stewardship materials), as well as monitoring, analyzing and reporting overall results to internal and external constituencies.
Troubleshoot gift and payment issues and ensure accurate donor record keeping.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Excellent written communication (writing, editing, etc.)
Strong abilities in Excel/Google Sheets preferred.
Experience creating high-level PowerPoint decks is highly preferred.
Advanced ability with Microsoft Office suite.

Ability to take a leadership role on projects.
The main work location for this position is Stanford University historical campus. Open to hybrid work schedule (at least 2-3 days per week onsite).
The expected pay range for this position is $64,480 to $120,000 per annum.
