The Student Success Librarian for Professional Literacies advocates for and promotes an inclusive culture of student success. This position connects students, faculty, and staff in the Haslam College of Business to Libraries resources by proactively building partnerships and delivering responsive experiences, services, and expertise. This position focuses on library support for the Haslam College of Business, the College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies, and other academic units with curricular needs for information literacy, immersive technologies and career preparedness.
Working closely with course instructors and library colleagues, the librarian develops and assesses learning outcomes related to finding, evaluating, using, and creating information and media based communication. Works as part of a cross-departmental team of librarians to engage students in multiple modes of learning in a supportive environment that encourages inclusivity and creativity. Helps students develop strong communication, technology, and professional skills to prepare them to be successful in their educational and professional careers. Employs user-experience methods to develop resources, services, and spaces that support an environment in which all students may thrive. Seeks new ways to spark interaction, research, learning, and creativity through engagement and playful inquiry. Works closely with the Head of Immersive Spaces and Technologies to assess and develop services and resources that align with curricular needs of the Haslam College of Business and other academic units.
The Student Success Librarian for Professional Literacies works creatively to support the mission of the University to empower learners, advance the well-being of communities, and commit to excellence, equity, and inclusion.
●Serves as one of two librarians for the Haslam College of Business and proactively develops relationships with faculty, staff, and students to understand and support their diverse teaching, learning, and research needs
●Serves as part of a team of librarians and staff developing services around professional literacies to all disciplines including the College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies
●Provides specialized instruction and consultations to facilitate integrating professional literacy concepts and skills into the curriculum
●Provides expertise on the Libraries' adoption and use of technologies and pedagogies to support professional skills
●Collaboratively develops, supports, and assesses engagement activities and experiential learning offerings to connect students to Libraries' spaces and technologies
●Delivers customized and expert research consultations for faculty, students, and the greater university community using business resources, including contributing to Libraries' research assistance services
●Engages with scholarly communications trends in Business and related disciplines
●Creates and maintains guides, tutorials, and other resources to assist researchers in self-paced learning
●Proactively seeks input from faculty and students in the Haslam College of Business to support their research and teaching needs through library collections and services
●Serves on Library and University committees and contributes to planning activities
●Engages in research/scholarship/creative activity through publication, presentation, and other creative outlets
●Serves the institution and the profession through involvement in professional organizations and cooperative efforts with other professionals and institutions

Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor with a salary of $63,000. Faculty rank and status; twelve-month, tenure-track appointment. Library faculty must meet University requirements for promotion and tenure.
Excellent benefits include 24 annual leave days; choice of state retirement plan (TCRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) (VOYA, TIAA) with nonrefundable contributions paid for the employee by the University; optional group health and life insurance plans. ●Master's Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or an equivalent degree in a Business-related discipline by the time of appointment

●Coursework, certification, or degree in business or related field
●Demonstrated knowledge of scholarly communication trends and issues
●Familiarity with business data sources
●Familiarity with LibGuides/LibApps software
●Familiarity with academic use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and collaborative writing platforms
