The Center for Labor and a Just Economy (CLJE) is a hub of creative research, labor policy and strategies to empower working people and build an equitable economy and democracy. Acknowledging the systemic failures and extreme concentration of power in our society, the Center is committed to reimagining labor law and developing paradigm-shifting labor policy. Located at Harvard Law School, the CLJE brings together scholars, students, practitioners, community members, and policy experts from a variety of disciplines. The Director of Labor Innovation has responsibility for leading CLJE's work in the development of innovative labor policies that will transform how working people build collective power in a rapidly changing economy and workplace. In particular, the Director of Labor Innovation will examine how technology can be utilized to enable collective worker power and how it can be used by employers to inhibit such activity.
Position Description
As Director of Labor Innovation you will:
Develop and manage new research-based innovative labor strategies as an integral part of the CLJE's work to reimagine our economy and our laws to support and empower working people and the legal architecture to support that transformation.
Create and implement long-term strategies that will build and implement programmatic initiatives that will meet the needs of the Center as well as expand and grow its scope, depth in the broader community.
Substantively participate in the strategic and budget planning of the Center and contribute to its long-term vision.
Work independently to secure new and innovative sources of funding to support new areas of work and study.
Manage complex and multiple grants requiring close oversight and substantive engagement.
Provide significant and substantive guidance and influence over the bringing in of international partners and institutions to the work of the Center to build and learn from international experiences.
Mentor project managers.
Supervise researchers and fellows engaged in cutting-edge research on the future of the labor movement and worker organizations.
Represent CLJE in domestic and international research consortia.
Build collaborative bridges and ventures with areas inside and outside of Harvard.
Responsible, in collaboration with the Executive Director, to promote and maintain relations with donors, internal and external academics, stakeholders, policy makers, international partners, and institutions to support the work of CLJE.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience, including leadership, development, and supervisory experience.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people from diverse backgrounds.

This is a two-year term appointment with potential for renewal subject to funding and departmental need.
