Overview
Ensure code consultants are following established filing practices and procedures. Review proposals from code consultants and oversee completion of the filing, approval, and sign-off process. When necessary, aid outside consultants in meeting with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) officials to obtain final approvals of Place of Assembly (PA) Permits and Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) for NYU buildings to ensure buildings have met all New York City Regulatory requirements and are safe to occupy. Advise consulting architects, engineers, contractors, code consultants and NYU Project Managers as to their responsibilities for obtaining approvals, permits, and sign-off of official documents. Aid management in the defense of complex projects that have been objected to by city regulatory agency examiners.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in architecture or engineering.
Required Experience: 3+ years relevant experience in filing plans with the Department of Buildings, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include familiarity with pre-BIS (Building Information Systems), BIS and DOB-NOW formats.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to interpret design and construction drawings. Excellent analytical and written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Department of Environmental Protection, NYC Fire Department, and NYC Department of Transportation rules and regulations. In depth knowledge of NYC Building Code and zoning regulations, and general accepted construction practices.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $73,513.80 to USD $89,850.20. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
