This Communications Coordinator will serve as a resource, providing communications and marketing support to internal constituencies across SEAS. Working as part of a small and cohesive team, under the supervision of the Director of Visual Communications and New Media, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the providing administrative support to the Office of Communications; co-owning the school's website; designing/producing print and digital materials; producing internal emails; photographing events and managing the schools photo/video database; and occasionally posting on social media. There may also be opportunities for video project management/production.
This position requires experience in the field of communications; aptitude with the tools of modern communications (see below); the attention to detail required for proofreading and administrative tasks; experience with social media best practices; graphic design savvy; the innate ability to self-start, task-manage, and work independently as well as with a team; and a level of ease with networking and building strong working relationships across departments and units. Interest in the applied sciences is a plus.
Serve as co-owner of the SEAS website: write online content with consultation from various stakeholders; develop and execute a schedule for annual content updating; manage web permissions; provide community training and troubleshooting; post news stories; identify and address non-technical website problems that affect the health and SEO score of the website (broken links, tags, image concerns, etc); respond to content-related website help tickets.
Take ownership of the production of marketing materials including brochures, posters, programs, and other print and digital assets, under the guidance of the Director of Visual Communications. This includes content development, proofreading, layout/design, quality assurance, and management of the print or digital production and distribution of the finished product(s).
Provide administrative support for the Office of Communications, including invoice processing and credit card payment processing.
Responsible for content aggregation, stakeholder review, list maintenance, and timely distribution of the regularly scheduled email newsletter, Inside SEAS (weekly).
Develop a positive, proactive, and productive working relationship with content owners/stakeholders across the school. Manage content development schedules tactfully with the goal of on-time project completion.
Photograph SEAS events as needed.
Manage the online photography and video database. Distribute images and video to internal and external content creators as needed.
May assist in the project management and production of SEAS promotional videos.
Occasionally develop PowerPoint presentations.
Other duties as assigned.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in social media management, marketing, communications, multimedia production or a related field.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Strong written and oral communications skills.
Experience with administrative work such as the processing credit card statements and invoices.
Experience working with a website content management system, preferably Drupal. Familiarity with basic aspects of website health.
An eye for detail as well as proficiency with proofreading and copyediting.
Experience managing multiple projects with shifting deadlines as an individual contributor.
Experience developing content in concert with multiple contributors and stakeholders.
An aptitude for graphic design. Proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop is strongly preferred. Formal design training is a strong plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Trello, Slack, Mailchimp, and Survey Monkey.
Strong organizational, time and project management skills; attention to detail; problem-solving skills; and the ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
A willingness and ability to quickly learn new skills and adjust to change is essential.
The position requires a team player who can function effectively in a highly complex organizational environment but is also able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience with photography and video production is a strong plus. Knowledge of Adobe Lightroom is preferred.
Experience with video production is a plus.
Experience with social media management is a plus.
The ability to work occasional extra hours, including evenings and/or weekends, to meet deadlines, support events, or address emergencies is required.

This position will occasionally require travel between our Allston and Cambridge campuses. Shuttle service is available between the two campuses during weekday business hours.
