Right now, the Digital Banking team is working on a project to expand our digital presence through cutting edge technologies, and you can be on the front line of this entrepreneurial project. This is a special team and a unique experience on the front line of entrepreneurial projects located downtown in the heart of Salt Lake City, Utah.
As a Principal Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, administering, integrating, and securing cloud technology which provides our customers with safe and sound banking solutions. The successful candidate will have the skills and experience to effectively participate with cross-functional teams and customers in collaborative design and development activities dealing with complex applications and challenges. You will be detail oriented, focused on delivering high quality deliverables, have a passion for the field of platform administration, cloud technology, and possess customer empathy with a drive to create outstanding customer experiences and improved solutions.
The Principal Cloud Engineer will:
Administer and understand Azure cloud network, storage, security, and computing solutions. (e.g., containerization/virtualization, site reliability, etc)
Serve as the principal engineer, administrator, and subject matter expert for at least 2 domains (Integration/Data Fabric, Microservices/Container as a Service, CI/CD, SDLC, Cloud Network, Cloud Security)
Provide thought leadership on industry developments that impact the organizational infrastructure and/or business strategy
Provide, implement and adhere to governance, procedures, documentation, and optimized workflows while administering a safe and sound cloud foundation
Build custom frameworks that leverage emerging technologies and modern development practices/methodologies
Collaborate across the functions to modernize process, skills, and technology gaps (CI/CD, Automated Testing, Agile)
Establish reusable patterns to be used to facilitate standards, automation, efficiency, etc.
Collaborate and mentor product teams (dev/ops teams) on the most critical/complex engineering problems by following an iterative development mindset while also factoring in the strategic long-term vision. Present with humility and coach with empathy
May act as prime consultant, lead, and contributor on large projects/programs that effect the organizations long-term goals and objectives. May serve as an expert spokesperson on specialized projects or programs
Other duties as assigned.
Technical Experience and Qualifications:
Subject Matter Expert and key contributor on Public Cloud Platforms (preferably Azure). (6+ years)
Strong knowledge of Terraform, Kubernetes, Network, and Security practices.
Requires a Bachelor's in degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or other related field and 10+ yrs experience with Architecting, designing, building and orchestrating technology solutions, software, processes and automation that enables technology implementations. Such as, Programming/Python/Scripting, Integration Fabric, Cloud (Azure cloud preferred, GCP, AWS, Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD Pipeline, Automated Testing, Virtualization/Containers or other directly related experience.
Strong ability to communicate vision and provide technical guidance across a variety of technical domains. Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with both management and staff employees.
Must be able to meet deadlines.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain high quality work standards.
Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas.
Works on the most unusual and highly complex problems and provides solutions that are highly creative.
Interacts with management, internal staff and customers/clients on matters requiring coordination across several different functions including meeting key service level targets. (e.g., uptime, performance, security, etc)
A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
Pay Range: $160,000 - $190,000 (Based upon relatable skills/experience)
Location:This position can be located 100% remote within the United States or ideally is located at the Zions Bank Building in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City with a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days at home. This position requires interaction with teams, business stakeholders, and executives in Salt Lake City.
