GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Summarize the nature and level of work performed.
Position available to study muscular dystrophy and focuses on the cellular and molecular events associated with muscle dysfunction. Individual will participate in all activities associated with the research lab, including, but not limited to, basic research in molecular and cell biology of muscle cell growth, differentiation, and regeneration; in vivo imaging and therapeutic studies in mice; screening of transgenic and knockout mouse lines; mouse husbandry; biomarker discovery; general lab duties; lab meeting, journal club discussions, and seminars. Individual will perform complex laboratory assignments, planning and conducting a complete project of limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.

The responsibilities include:
With general guidance from Principal Investigator, plans and performs RNA and protein isolation, PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, droplet digital PCR, in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence labeling, and cloning & plasmid DNA preparation.
Assists with mouse experiments, including but not limited to subcutaneous and intravenous delivery of therapeutic agents, dissection, in vivo imaging and spectroscopy, activity monitoring, treadmill testing, and rotarod.
With general guidance from the Principal Investigator, plans and performs cell and tissue culture experiments.
Day-to-day maintenance of mouse colony, including husbandry and breeding, genomic DNA extraction and PCR genotyping, and record keeping.
Experimental planning, preparation, troubleshooting and interpretation including literature searches; researching, designing and modifying protocols as needed. Records and analyzes data for presentation to Principal Investigator.
Organize laboratory, order supplies, routine lab and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Must be realistic, objective, measurable and related to essential functions of this job.
Research lab experience in performing molecular biology techniques, tissue culture, protein biochemistry and/or handling laboratory mice. Requires a high level of detail, organization and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced laboratory environment, plus the ability to prioritize assignments and proactively resolve problems.
