The Department of Psychiatry at MGH is seeking a Clinical Research Project Manager to work on studies within the Clinical Neuroscience Laboratory of Sex Differences in the Brain (CNL-SD), part of the Innovation Center on Sex Differences in Medicine (ICON-X). The CNL-SD consists of an interdisciplinary team of investigators integrating structural and functional brain imaging studies, psychophysiology, neuroendocrine studies of hormones and brain function, genetics, and biomarkers of immune function.
The studies for which we are currently recruiting are collaborative projects investigating the shared pathophysiologies that underlie sex-dependent risk for major depressive disorder (MDD), cardiovascular disease (CVD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD). One study is the investigation of early risk factors for sex differences in Alzheimer's Disease and memory decline, focusing on the roles of hormones, genes, and inflammatory factors in understanding sex effects in memory function and comorbidity with cardiometabolic outcomes. The goal of another study is to develop a diagnostic tool for identifying biomarkers and targets for the risk for Alzheimer's disease in early midlife. The Project Manager position reports to the head of the CNL-SD and Executive Director of ICON.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing day to day study logistics including creating, implementing, monitoring, & updating project plans; facilitating meetings with appropriate parties; tracking tasks/deliverables to ensure timelines, milestones &/or goals are attained; identifying & securing needed resources; monitoring & reporting progress as appropriate; resolving or escalating issues in a timely manner
Establishes effective working relationships with faculty and staff at all levels, including principal investigators, postdoctoral fellows, project managers, and clinical research coordinators
Acts as a liaison to collaborating labs, teams, and service providers
Coordinates and participates in regular team meetings
Ensures study is reviewed for fulfillment of objectives and deadlines and overall compliance with policy and procedures
Maintains human subject protocols and ensures study compliance
Performs project cost estimates, budget and expense monitoring, and reporting
Assists with the preparation of funding proposals and grant applications
Other duties as assigned by the CNL-SD director
Qualifications Skills and Competencies Required:
Strong experience facilitating project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, and ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to organize time and priorities effectively, asking for direction when appropriate. Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures
Sound judgment, problem solving, leadership, and collaboration in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to problems
Ability to work independently under the general direction of the PI, make effective and timely decisions and and seek guidance when appropriate
Strong analytical skills with a data driven approach to planning, executing, and problem solving
Excellent interpersonal/communications skills and a good command of English language, including medical and scientific terminology
Exceptional computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of IRB processes such as submissions, continuing reviews, and amendments
Knowledge of healthcare and data management software such as EPIC and REDCap preferred
Education:
Master's degree (preferred) in research operations/management, public health, or related field (interest in neuroscience, psychology, psychobiology, or related discipline a plus). Bachelor's degree required.
Experience:
2-3 years of related research experience required (5 for Bachelor's). Understanding of basics of clinical research is required.
