IT Customer Service at the University at Buffalo provides direct and individualized user support for UB's vast enterprise technical portfolio. As the Endpoint Systems Administrator you are responsible for the configuration and maintenance of endpoints in use by faculty, staff, and students. You will be responsible for developing, testing, managing, and deploying images for Windows OS, MacOS, and virtual endpoints using industry standard enterprise tools, while maintaining an appropriate balance between security and usability. As a mission critical role this position requires a firm commitment to providing exceptional customer service, the ability to effectively prioritize, and strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. As a member of the Central IT organization, you will provide resources and guidance to distributed IT departments to enhance and support the overall mission of the University.
In this role you will:
Work as part of a team of IT support professionals within CIT and the larger distributed IT community to insure the most optimal individual computing experience using UB's enterprise services and systems.
Provide advanced endpoint system administration and support in a heterogeneous environment (Windows OS, Mac OS, Virtual Environments) with a high focus on endpoint security; software provisioning; patch management; endpoint lifecycle; service automation; and usability.
Create, test, deploy and manage images for Windows OS (Intune/SCCM), MacOS (JAMF), and workstation/application virtualization (VDI/VMware) endpoints to provide a high level of service for centrally scheduled classrooms, public computing sites and business unit endpoints.
Verify hardware and software compatibility and stability in preparation of large-scale upgrades to operating systems or enterprise infrastructure.
Consult with users, departmental leaders, distributed IT peers and service providers to evaluate endpoint use cases and introduce enhancements to meet or exceed needs and expectations, increase security, and enhance the user experience.
Assist with the documentation, training, research, and mentoring on technical solutions for technology staff to improve efficiency and quality of technology service delivery and support.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience or master's degree with 1 year of experience working with endpoint management tools. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
High-level knowledge of operating system installation and support procedures
Expert knowledge of current and prior versions of Microsoft and Apple operating systems
Experience with Active Directory and policy administration; Windows and macOS scripting languages
Knowledge of ITIL fundamentals, ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal direction, emphasis on customer service, and a strong desire to help others
Fundamental understanding of common networking protocols
High-level knowledge of hardware/software, firewall, system monitoring, automated deployment, automated patching, and information security practices and methodologies
High Level knowledge of remote software management and deployment using InTune/SCCM/JAMF and similar tools
High-level knowledge of analysis, Powershell scripting, project management methods and techniques
High-level knowledge of Active Directory, Database Services, Endpoint Security, and troubleshooting methodologies
Knowledge or experience using OS deployment tools e.g., MDM (JAMF and Intune); systems management tools e.g., SCCM, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, or similar
Experience packaging applications for Windows and Mac environments
