The Information Technology Division seeks a Senior Applications Engineer to support the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). This position will be part of a growing and dynamic team working to support the delivery of a $1.7-$2.8B, ~10-year construction project leading into EIC facility operations. Responsibilities include the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of information systems utilizing Microsoft SharePoint and the Microsoft Power Platform. You will work directly with stakeholders and senior technical staff in collecting requirements, implementing solutions, instructing end users, documenting and resolving issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Create and configure new Microsoft 365 SharePoint sites, including managing document libraries, lists, and forms, following Microsoft's published best-practices for permission management.
* Provide problem solving expertise and analysis to design, build, and document custom SharePoint forms and workflows using Power Apps and custom workflows using Power Automate.
* Manage the BNL Microsoft 365 SharePoint service using PowerShell to ensure high availability and security of SharePoint and related systems to meet business needs.
* Work with analysts and business users to turn functional specifications into complete solutions.
* Perform ad-hoc testing of third-party custom software that extends Microsoft 365 services.
* Follow company guidelines for programming and documentation.
* Serve as a liaison between the Information Technology Division and the EIC Project.
* Work closely with external consultants to develop and maintain workflow and document control solutions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Requires a BA/BS degree or equivalent experience, preferably a degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 8 + years of relevant experience.
* Experience providing solutions to end users using SharePoint Online, Power Automate, and Power Apps
* Experience using the SharePoint Online (SPOService) and Patterns and Practices (PnpOnline) PowerShell Modules
* Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all the following groups: project managers, application developers, DBAs, vendors, end users, and management
* Ability to respond to requests, issues, and attend meetings during a typical workday
* Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
* After-hours availability, troubleshooting, and support may be required
* Ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse team environment
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Expertise (experience, certification, or coursework) with the following: Microsoft Teams, T-SQL, Visual Studio, .Net, C#
* Expertise using Power BI to create dashboards and reports according to business and operational needs.
* Experience developing and managing the lifecycle of native SharePoint applications using SharePoint Framework (SPFx), SharePoint Site Design Templates and Scripts (HTML5 and CSS), and Microsoft Graph API
* Expertise using JavaScript and REST APIs
* Experience managing external user authentication and authorization using Federated Identity (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID)
* Experience working in a scientific or project environment
