Departmental Overview
The College of Engineering at UC Berkeley is recognized for its educational and research excellence, consistently ranking among the top three Engineering colleges in the United States. With more than 240 regular faculty members, 2100 graduate students and 3600 undergraduate students located in seven academic departments. Engineering is the second largest college on the Berkeley campus.
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) in both the College of Engineering and the Division of Computing Data Science and Society (CDSS), is the largest department on the Berkeley campus consisting of over 130 faculty, adjunct, active emeriti and PIR appointments, 3,500+ undergraduates both in the College of Engineering and Letters and Science,800+ graduate students, and 60+ staff members. EECS programs are consistently ranked in the top three by many measures, including U.S. News & World Report's national and global ranking. Annual operating budget not including research expenditures for EECS is $40+ million.
The Department is actively engaged in teaching and research in the disciplines of Artificial Intelligence, Computational Biology, Databases, Graphics, Hardware / Architecture, Human-Computer Interaction, Operating Systems / Networking, Programming Systems / Software, Scientific Computing, Theory, Vision (in Computer Science) as well as Biosystems, Communication/Networking, Communications/Physical Layer, Control, Design, Modeling, and Analysis, Electromagnetics/Antennas, Integrated Circuits, Optics, Physical Electronics Devices, Physical Electronics/MEMS, Optoelectronics, Energy, Robotics, Signal Processing for Image & Video, Signal Processing for Speech & Audio (in Electrical Engineering). Computer Science operates research and instructional laboratories in Soda Hall and Sutardja Dai Hall, and Electrical Engineering operates like facilities in Cory Hall and Sutardja Dai Hall. EECS also has a significant technical staff support structure to provide support for research and instructional laboratories and fabrication facilities.
Under general supervision and guidance of the EECS Facilities Projects and Building Manager, the Facilities Administration Coordinator represents the EECS Department to faculty, students, staff, visitors, vendors and other campus units, in terms addressing and coordinating the department's access, facilities, and safety matters and concerns in two buildings (Cory and Soda). The position provides high level facilities and administrative support the EECS faculty, staff, and students and is responsible for coordinating requests/inquiries with appropriate resources or contacts as needed to meet the department's building and safety goals and priorities The position also provides general administrative support to the Facilities and Administration groups.

Responsibilities
60% Department Access/Key Control Management:
Serves as the Department's Access Coordinator/Key Controller for Cory and Soda buildings. Responsible for building access (card key and metal keys) for Soda and Cory to over 1,200 facilities occupants and contractors each semester.
Implements and reviews UCPD Access Control Policy for EECS facilities in Soda and Cory Hall.
Oversees creating keycard clearances in accordance with UCPD policies as appropriate based on employment/organization/group affiliations.
Oversees and maintains accurate records of all access control activities, including ensuring appropriate authority approvals prior to issuing keys, ordering replacement keys as needed, etc.
Independently oversees the Department access records system including reconciling inventory, recovering department keys from departing personnel, reporting any failure to recover access control keys to department management and UCPD, and securely storing unassigned keys in the department's UCPD-approved cabinets.
Coordinates access control and security efforts using CCURE and collaborating with both the physical and electronic security specialists.
Maintains 'New Card/Metal Key Access' and 'Problems' forms and resolves access issues ensuring appropriate approvals and safety requirements are met
Partners with Instructional Support Group and Electronic Support Group Managers or reviewing semester-based clearances and troubleshooting card key issues for students enrolled in EECS courses (12,000+/semester).
Responsible for communicating access control weekly requests for door schedules in all Soda and Cory Hall to campus Facilities in a timely manner.
Oversee all incoming email inquiries related to access and facilities and take actions as necessary or direct them to appropriate resources.
Serves as a back up to the Building Managers as needed for facilities and access related matters
Responsible for managing the EECS Facilities Request system (ACG), including submitting requests and updating EECS work orders when requests are completed.
Uses Maximo (campus system) to track facilities requests and their status.
Coordinates ad hoc and special facilities and administrative projects with the EECS Facilities Team members.
10% General Office Administration:
Coordinates with the EECS Administration/Facilities Team members in managing schedules for student employees to ensure that daily operational business needs are met.
Responsible for coordinating purchasing requests for the Facilities and EECS Administration Groups as needed via BearBuy and ERSO Intranet.
Oversees and coordinates maintenance of the department office equipment including copiers, public printers, etc., in Cory and Soda buildings.
Coordinates all logistics related to shipping and receiving partnering with the ERSO/campus shipping and receiving teams (i.e., USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.).
Oversees all aspects of ordering/distributing/returning of EECS faculty regalia for commencement activities.
Coordinates with campus Mail Services for confidential shredding bins/boxes for managing course related and other confidential materials.
10% Course Support Administration:
Partners with the EECS Administration Group to ensure Cory Hall room reservations management.
Partners with the EECS Administration Group in coordinating textbook adoptions and related textbook library logistics as necessary.
Provides backup support the EECS Administration Group in course support matters including assist in the printing, tracking completion and distribution of copy jobs, with special emphasis on mid-terms and finals.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Thorough written, verbal, and interpersonal communications, tact and political acumen to effectively represent the department and to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
Thorough knowledge of the campus, its mission, goals, objectives, programs, achievements, infrastructure, and issues of concern.
Solid organizational skills and ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Skill in project management, including event planning, facilitation/collaboration, and meeting deadlines. Requires a high level of organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
Demonstrated technical and applications skills (e.g., Google Suite, MS Office Suite [PowerPoint, Word, Excel], etc.) and working knowledge of common campus-specific and other computer application programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of the Department's Student Affairs, Academic Personnel, Financial, and Program Development, Facilities, and other operating units, and departmental goals and priorities.
Understanding of EECS's unique structure, academic programs, policies, workflow and communication demands.

It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28.83 to $33.74 hourly. This is a 100% FTE career position eligible for full benefits.
