Job DescriptionThe Senior Construction Project Manager reports to the Associate Vice President for Capital Projects Management and is responsible for the management of multiple capital projects through all phases, from initiation through close-out. The Senior Construction Project Manager will be responsible for many different types of construction projects, both interior and exterior, new construction or renovations with budgets ranging from $100,000 to $200M.
The Senior Construction Project Manager will oversee and coordinate planning and scope development, specification and drawing preparation, equipment and materials planning and procurement, as well as contract preparation and administration. He/She will be directly responsible for estimating, budget & schedule development and management, bidding and negotiating, move and occupancy management, as well as ensuring overall quality and project control. The Senior Construction Project Manager will be required to coordinate directly with internal Boston College stakeholders (including Facilities Services trade shops and operations staff), external consultants, and all authorities having jurisdiction, as well as responsibility for project reporting.
15 to 20 years of recent experience in capital construction project management of new construction and large-scale building renovation, including utility or physical plant upgrades, and facade or envelope improvements is required, with experience managing multiple capital construction projects in various phases. Experience with project budgets from $100,000 to $100M, and experience within higher education is strongly preferred.
Minimum education required is a Bachelor's degree in a construction-related or project management program. Professional Registration (PE or AIA) or Project Management Certification (PMP) is a plus. Previous experience as an Owner's Project Manager at an academic or institutional organization is highly desirable. A valid driver's license is mandatory.
The ability to organize and manage teams, including internal design and operations staff, external contractors, architects, and other design/technical consultants, as well as an understanding of construction techniques and materials, and capital construction project delivery methods is critical. Experience in construction project estimating, budgeting, schedule management, and cash flow management is essential. Familiarity with OSHA and safety regulations as related to building construction is required. Familiarity with building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm/protection systems, roofing and facade systems, campus utility systems, hazardous materials testing and abatement, as well as state and local permitting and approvals processes as related to construction is required.
The successful candidate will handle multiple projects, with aggressive project schedules, solve issues of a technical nature, and effectively react to change or unforeseen conditions in a manner that minimizes the impact on schedule and budget.
Salary range is $115,900 - $144,900 and is dependent on candidate's qualifications

*Strong architectural, engineering or construction technical background is preferred.
*Experience within higher education is strongly preferred.
*Professional Registration (PE or AIA) or Project Management Certification (PMP) is a plus.
*Previous experience as an Owner's Project Manager at an academic or institutional organization is highly desirable.
