Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Facilities, the Mail Duplicating Clerk II is responsible for various tasks and operations in the university mail room. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between The New School and Local 1205 â“ Clerical Union.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs routine mailing, supply logging, filing and inventory tasks

• Receives and sorts incoming digital, regular and specialized mail, and physical packages 

• Sorts incoming digital mail and routes to proper recipient

• Assists in maintaining the package locker system

• Delivers and picks up or oversees the delivery and pick up of outgoing mail and packages at specified locations

• Weighs and stamps or makes proper arrangements for outgoing mail and packages and items requiring special handling

• Records registered and insured mail 

• Delivers packages as needed and makes short trips to the Post Office

• Answers mail related inquiries (including digital mail, package lockers, freight deliveries, etc.)

• Assumes full responsibility for completion of all tasks with minimal supervision

• Assumes clerical and operational responsibilities of Mail Services in the absence of Senior Mail Duplicating Clerk

• Demonstrates flexibility in accepting assignments and taking initiative when needed

• Performs job related duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to consistently complete tasks in a timely manner

• Ability to read, write, and communicate with co-workers and the University community, in English

• Preferred knowledge of machine operations, adjustments, and care, such as mail sorters, etc.

• Proven ability to effectively work individually or in a team environment.

• Demonstrated competency in basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word).

• Ability to maintain accurate record keeping

• Proven customer service skills

• Ability to lift and/or push/pull up to 50 lbs.

• Available to work weekends and overtime when necessary

WORK MODE

• On-Campus Position - Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely.

SALARY RANGE

$21.12 per hour
