Work with the Executive Director and Faculty Director to set priorities for training and communications team.
Supervise two experienced full-time staff and several part time staff who are responsible for carrying out day-to-day training and communication activities.
Provide leadership oversee planning for the training and communications team. Develop the annual training calendar and ensure appropriate staffing levels for programs and events.
Provide training and mentorship to staff in academic writing, grant administration, communications, teaching and/or group facilitation, and program evaluation.
Help address trainee questions and concerns as they arise and identify resources and career development opportunities for trainees. Coach junior research staff on strategies for supervising trainees, providing feedback, and mitigating concerns. Â
Collaborate with faculty leaders on the development of didactic curricula and experiential training opportunities for training programs and then lead implementation of these activities.
Facilitate trainings and events where appropriate and/or help generate potential speakers/presenters. Support day-to-day operations, including scheduling and staffing of activities, when needed.
Establish and lead in-person community building efforts within and between training programs, staff, and faculty. This may include leading program-wide check ins and social events in addition to formal didactics.
Support and identify opportunities for quality improvement in the recruitment, application, selection, onboarding, and tracking/monitoring processes for trainees. Participate directly in interview processes for AmeriCorps members, undergraduate trainees, and other programs as needed.
Oversee planning and facilitation of leadership and advisory board meetings for individual programs.
Collaborate with program faculty and staff in the design and implementation of program evaluation efforts.
Develop strategies for and lead implementation of training program alumni engagement and tracking.
Monitor compliance of training grants and programs with respect to the relevant divisional, institutional, and state/federal policies.
Collaborate with faculty and staff on the development, preparation, and submission of new training grant proposals, competitive renewals, and progress reports. Provide mentorship and technical support as needed to staff preparing data tables for NIHT proposals.
Develop and monitor program budgets in coordination with the CHeSS grants team.
Serve as Administrative Director for the AmeriCorps award, which includes serving as a liaison to the funder; monitoring budgets and available positions; leading internal audits of AmeriCorps documentation and timesheets; overseeing the planning of trainings, orientations, and social activities for members; and mentoring host site supervisors in AmeriCorps policies.
Provide strategic vision for CHeSSâ™s communications strategy and supervise related activities.
Support dissemination of research for trainees, CHeSS Affiliates, and P30 CHABLIS Center Associates.
Ensure compliance of communications with university standards and policies.
Gathers and analyzes data concerning program performance, and writes reports. Develops and monitors program budgets.
Typically review work of and serve as a resource to program support staff and program instructors.
Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Advanced degree in a health, education, or social sciences related field.
Experience:
Experience in health and/or social science research and/or educational programming in a university setting.
Teaching experience and/or strong group facilitation skills.
Experience with grant or other forms of academic writing, NIH grant administration, communicating with funders, and overseeing program/grant compliance.
Experience developing and monitoring budgets.
Experience with program design and implementation, curricula development, and program evaluation.
Supervisory and project management experience.
Experience in internal and external communications, including but not limited to marketing and training program recruitment, website development, newsletters, and managing the centerâ™s visual identity. Programs and software used may include WordPress, MailChimp, Adobe, and CRM software.
