The School of Information Science (SIS) in the College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky (UK) invites applications for Faculty Lecturer with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2023. The School is looking to fill one or more vacancies for the upcoming Fall semester.

These positions teach courses in the CIS sequence (CIS 110/111/112 and 300). The courses make up the UK Core requirement for Composition & Communication, and cover oral, written, visual, and digital communication. Candidates must hold an earned M.A. in Communication or a related field by the start date. Past teaching experience is required.

These nine-month, non-tenure faculty appointments at the lecturer rank are renewable based on performance and needs of the unit. Candidates will be expected to teach four classes per term, with the potential to earn additional compensation for summer teaching as available.

The School of Information Science offers two online master's degrees (library science and information communication technology), an undergraduate major in information communication technology (including an online degree completion component), and an online minor in information studies. Additionally, the School of Information Science includes the Instructional Communication and Research program, which teaches university core courses in multi-modal communication to incoming students. The school boasts an impressive cadre of internationally recognized faculty who are recipients of multiple prestigious awards and fellowships.

The College of Communication and Information is composed of two schools (School of Information Science and School of Journalism and Media), two departments (Department of Communication and Department of Integrated Strategic Communication), and interdisciplinary master's and PhD programs. More than 90 full-time faculty lead nearly 1,700 undergraduate majors and 350 graduate students while also teaching in the university's core curriculum and serving students pursuing minors and certificates in the college. The college also houses University of Kentucky's independent student newspaper, The Kentucky Kernel, and the championship winning Intercollegiate Debate Team.
