Job Summary
The Nutrition and Global Health Program in the Department of Global Health and Population, at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated Research Program Coordinator with a public health background to join its management team and contribute to the strategic development of the program's research, training, and regional partnership activities. The program is conducting several global health research and training projects with partners in resource-limited settings in sub- Saharan Africa and Asia, primarily Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, and India. The program's research focus includes maternal and child health, adolescent health, infectious diseases, with emphasis on nutritional factors. Working closely with the Program's Senior Manager and Senior Coordinator, and in coordination with program faculty and partner institutions, this position will be supporting a wide range of activities within the program including proposal and new initiative development and managing programmatic aspects of existing projects and global collaborations.
Position Description
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Contribute to the development of trial protocols, standard operating procedures, and case report forms, in coordination with the Senior Research and Program Coordinator. Maintain required documentation for clinical trials, as well as adverse event reporting. (20%)
Lead communications with stakeholders, project data mangers, and clinical team via weekly conference calls. Assist with and guide project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure data quality and integrity. Work with researchers and data managers at field sites to set up data collection systems and assist with data management, cleaning, and quality monitoring to provide data-driven feedback to project sites for quality improvement. (20%)
Work closely with the management and finance team in Boston, including the Senior Program Manager, and at the sites to ensure objectives of the trial(s) are met on schedule and within the approved budget. Prepare financial reports and technical progress reports to the funder in collaboration with the Senior Coordinator and Senior Manager. Perform regulatory submissions to the Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and other regulatory organizations. Advise and assist faculty and researchers with getting regulatory permits, import/export permits, and Data Transfer Agreements. (20%)
Author and publish abstracts, poster presentations, research articles, and assist/lead the academic manuscript writing. (20%)
Support efforts and coordinate activities for the Africa Research, Implementation Science, and Education (ARISE) Network, including developing and managing a website, social media presences, and networking, in coordination with the Senior Coordinator. (20%)
Performs other duties as required
PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of 2 years from date of hire with the possibility of extension. This is a hybrid position and this position will be based in Boston, MA. Additional detail pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, California (exempt staff only), Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington).
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of relevant experience is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
The following job-specific skills and competencies are preferred:
Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
Master's Degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or related field
Experience in international research project coordination
Experience liaising with Institutional Review Boards, other regulatory organizations, and academic and governmental institutions
Experience in project management and data analysis
Experience setting up electronic data collection systems and data monitoring
Experience preparing and writing for published or unpublished pieces of professional, research-oriented work
Excellent organizational, and problem-solving skills
