We are excited to add a Sr. Project Manager-Facilities to be responsible for the successful planning, budgeting, and execution of construction building projects mainly greater than $5 million in support of Great River Energy’s business needs. The sr. project manager will develops and oversee plans for the maintenance of employee-occupied buildings throughout our service territory and manage relocation projects for employees, storage and equipment..

Key responsibilities:
Leads the planning, bidding, budgeting, contract review and approval activities associated with office and building construction and remodeling activities.
Utilize project management tools to assist in managing milestones and overall project tracking to meet schedule, cost, resource, and technical objectives.
Evaluate the risk assessments of project activities, as well as evaluating scope, data, technology and resources required for the project.
Manage employee transitions and relocations, ensuring business group needs are met and communication in support of the change(s) is planned.
Build time estimates, develop project schedules, and address scheduling problems as they arise.
Estimate project costs to inform leadership of go/no-go decisions.
Organize project team members, contractors, and vendors providing guidance and ensuring accountability for performance, schedule, contractor work per drawing and budget expectations.
Track budgets and understand capital requirements for projects.
Communicate and escalate issues, using appropriate resources to address and resolve accordingly.
Lead the project team through the project execution process, including scope development, design reviews, construction inspection, coordination of internal and external SME’s, final walk through and acceptance of the project.
Provide short- and long-term planning guidance with respect to GRE’s portfolio of employee-occupied real estate, including project prioritization, cost estimating, budget planning, and scheduling.
Promotes the facilities services department by serving the needs of other GRE stakeholders through the maintenance and long-term operation of GRE’s building portfolio.
Proactively identify M/E/P or structure-related building issues and develop plan to resolve.
Manage multi-year operations & maintenance (O&M) contracts for lawn service, snow removal, elevator maintenance and others as assigned.
Job Criteria: Education & Experience A bachelor’s degree in construction, project management or facilities management and 8+ years of relevant work experience; or combination of equivalent education and/or experience. The successful applicant will have a broad facilities background in general construction management, mechanical and civil engineering and architecture. Primary experience must include commercial construction management on projects greater than $5 million. Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) certification is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge of facilities related to design and construction.
Knowledge and understanding of the project management process.
Knowledge of computer software and applications, including Microsoft office suite and Power BI.
Skilled in communication, both written and verbal. Must be able to present a professional image, establish credibility, build relationships and partner with all levels within the organization, as well as external partners.
Skilled in conflict resolution including the ability to address differences of opinions or facts and the use of the most appropriate method to reach an effective solution.
Skilled in discovering and identifying root causes of problems/issues with the ability to develop recommendations for resolution.
Skilled in the assessment and mitigation of risk in commercial building projects.
Ability to interpret plans and manage the submittal process.
Ability to lead technical and non-technical personnel.
Ability to negotiate by collaborating with others to arrive at a conclusion using compromise, persuasion, rationale, and diplomacy. under the Careers page.
