The English Department at TCU, which offers Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. degrees within a teacher-scholar model, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) DEI Scholar Fellow. We seek a colleague whose work builds research and teaching connections at the intersections of fields such as these: African American, Asian American, Latinx, Indigenous, etc. studies; feminist/queer/trans studies; disability studies; science studies/medical humanities; border studies; carcerality; digital humanities; post-colonial studies; eco-criticism and environmental studies; community literacy studies; public humanities and writing; digital citizenship and/or new media studies.
We are a department that values diversity as well as interdisciplinary research and teaching in ethnic studies, women and gender studies, literatures, rhetoric, writing, and technologies. We seek a scholar with an emergent research agenda.
This position carries a 1/1 course load for up to two years. Additionally, recipients will participate actively in the intellectual life of the Department and may also take advantage of the rich activities within the AddRan College of Liberal Arts, which includes Departments such as Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies and Women and Gender Studies.
The main job responsibilities include:
Teaching one undergraduate course per semester
Establishing a research record to support a pathway to a tenure-track position
Participating in departmental activities
Supporting departmental programming aligned with the Fellow’s area/s of expertise (as in a student reading group, experiential learning activity, hosting a guest speaker, etc.)
Review of Applications will begin on March 15, 2023, and will continue until the position is filled.

Named for TCU’s founders, Addison and Randolph Clark, the AddRan College of Liberal Arts is home to the core academic disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. The College includes approximately 155 full-time faculty members, 13 departments (Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Geography, History, Modern Language Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Sociology & Anthropology, Spanish and Hispanic Studies, and Women & Gender Studies), and two units of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (Army and Air Force). AddRan College departments confer 17 Bachelor of Arts and 7 Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of General Studies, an online master’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, a Master of Liberal Arts degree, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in History, English, and Rhetoric and Composition.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Promotes innovative ways of involving our diverse student body in an accessible and engaged educational experience. 2. Advances new approaches to interdisciplinary research, scholarship or creative work that benefits our diverse communities and addresses complex global problems. 3. Contributes to inclusive excellence action research. 4. Expands collaborations with community and business partnerships, including those involving traditionally underserved groups. 5. Teaches one undergraduate course per semester for the AddRan College of Liberal Arts, department of English. 6. Establishes a research record to support a pathway to a tenure-track position. 7. Required Education & Experience:
• PhD in English, Rhetoric & Composition, or related field by August 1, 2023. • Experience with engagements with students, innovations in research, scholarship and creative activities, and partnerships in outreach and service that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
