Harvard University Planning and Design seeks a talented, creative, and self-motivated Planning Graphics Associate, who will also have urban design planning responsibilities, to join the department within Harvard's Central Administration responsible for the planning and development of Harvard's campus. Reporting to the Planning Graphics Manager, this position is an integral part of a small team of physical planners who are guiding the future physical development of Harvard University. The Planning Graphics Associate is expected to contribute to the development and production of a wide variety of materials such as reports and planning documents, PowerPoint presentations, presentation boards, and exhibits, as well as create and modify site plans/floor plans, schedules, charts, diagrams, and other items as defined.
Position Description
Key activities include:
Graphic material preparation, including drawings, sketches/diagrams, maps, photographs, and 3D models.
Production of studies, reports, and presentations including layouts and editing.
Organization and maintenance of planning graphic resources (plans, renderings, and photos).
Contribution to the development of physical planning studies.
Collaboration with other University units on special projects and communication materials.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of five years of graphic arts and publications experience. Education beyond high school may count towards experience.
Proven computer graphic and urban design planning skills. Portfolio required.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design, art, or another arts-related field strongly preferred.
Expertise in a range of computer software tools, including MS Office, AutoCAD, GIS, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) and 3D model software (SketchUp or other)
Master's degree in urban design or related field desirable.
Excellent planning graphic skills.
Strong urban design, planning, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proven computer graphic and urban design planning skills. Portfolio required.
Understanding of design drawing and cartography, including layout design, scales, color selection, font choices, and symbol placement.
Excellent organizational skills & the ability to meet deadlines.
Attention to detail and quality of work product is essential.
Willingness to share fresh, innovative ideas with colleagues.
Ability to take initiative and effectively contribute to a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Working knowledge of pre-press and print production process.
Experience with technology, web applications/website design, digital photography as well as drones a plus.

This position may start hybrid (some on-campus/some remote work), with the transition to a full-on campus in Cambridge if required by the department. Work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process.
