The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a Laboratory Scientist with a focus on histologic tumor analysis who will work within the Wolpin-Nowak laboratory as part of the Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research (http://halecenter.dfci.harvard.edu) and the Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research Laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer institute (https://www.lustgarten.org/research/our-lab/). The Wolpin-Nowak laboratory focuses on diagnosis, risk factors, survival determinants, and clinical trial correlative science for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The lab uses multiplex immunofluorescence, spatial transcriptomics, digital image analysis, machine learning, and genomic techniques to characterize human PDAC tumor samples. The Wolpin-Nowak laboratory seeks a Laboratory Scientist to manage and support research in these areas within the laboratory conducted by postdoctoral fellows and research technicians in collaboration with others within the Hale Center and DFCI-Lustgarten Dedicated Laboratory.

Conduct multiplex immunofluorescence and spatial transcriptomic analyses in support of laboratory projects and clinical trial correlative science studies
Collaborate with other laboratory members with expertise in pathology, molecular biology, and epidemiology / biostatistics
Maintain laboratory protocol databases, patient tissue and slide archives, and digital assets
Oversee and maintain laboratory infrastructure
Assist in training new postdoctoral fellows and research technicians
Conduct analyses using digital image processing software, such as inForm and QuPath, and statistical packages such as R and SAS
Participate in group meetings and work collaboratively on larger projects with other group members
Generate data for figures and tables to serve as the basis for published manuscripts
Contribute to manuscripts describing research results
Contribute to progress reports related to research funding
Advanced degree preferred.?? Six to nine years??? experience post undergraduate degree. One to two year work experience post education
Strong background in pathology
Experience in immunohistochemistry, multiplex immunofluorescence, and and/or tumor genomics is a plus
Experience in oncology research would be an advantage. Strong commitment to cancer research is required.
Experience managing laboratory staff would be an advantage
High level of dedication to work
Ability to work independently and perform troubleshooting when needed
Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and work with a wide variety of faculty and staff
Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems
Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks
Ability to work within a team environment
Adaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Multitasking essential
Candidates should hold a doctoral or masters degree in pathology, molecular biology, genetics/genomics, or related fields. Multidisciplinary training and experience in multiple fields is desirable.
