What we do:
Enterprise network management and service delivery including backup/recovery, monitoring, configuration, capacity management, and documentation for the network
Ensure delivery of reliable and high quality network services including wired and wireless edge, datacenter, backbone, Internet connectivity and global campuses
Technical leadership and engineering for complex, enterprise systems spanning multiple functional teams and in service of a large, varied constituent base
Deliver technical expertise and consultation regarding network elements of building projects and renovations including: bidding projects, financials, project management, architectural design, RF planning, and cable plant strategy
Consult with partners across the distributed IT community to gather requirements, communicate changes, develop strategies for network service integration
Build and manage relationships with relevant vendors to evaluate, purchase, and implement new and emerging technologies
Manage various areas of responsibilities that include: maintaining the integrity of core IT utilities and services that provide the space, power, cooling, and physical security of network closets
24x7 service support, including on-call rotation responsibilities. Participates in ITIL practices of incident, problem management, service request, and change management as highest escalation point for network services

As a Network Engineer II you will be apply acquired job skills and experience to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks. Problems and issues faced are of moderate scope and complexity and are varied, vague, and may require understanding of a broader set of issues. Requires experienced/practical knowledge and skills and works toward development and obtainment of expertise in at least one technology, product, program, or process area. Works independently under limited supervision with ability to self-direct work and work may span other work areas and departments. May lead projects and be responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area. RIT Network at a high level:
Department/College Description As part of the ITS job family, this position is primarily responsible for partnering with the university to advance the RIT vision by providing reliable, secure, and innovative information technology services and solutions. Responsibilities include analysis of IT solutions and services, development and deployment of IT solutions and services, maintenance and support of IT solutions and services, effective alignment of IT solutions and services to functional business needs, and/or strategic alignment of IT and business.
Minimum Qualifications Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience
2 to 4 years of hands on experience in analysis, evaluation, design, implementation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance and support of major complex enterprise network solutions
Ability to lift up to 100lbs and sit/stand/walk for extended periods
Skills:
Intermediate/practical knowledge of area of specialization principles, theories, and concepts
Intermediate/practical knowledge understanding of industry best practices, techniques, and standards
Developing and obtaining expertise in at least one technology, product, program, or process area
May have foundational/theoretical knowledge of program or project management
Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions with minimal direction and to prioritize across multiple demands in a fluid, ambiguous, and changeable environment
Proven ability to collaborate with peers across divisional lines to get the right things done
Manage and maintain a budget for planned and unplanned activities, including preventative maintenance
Manage contractors and maintain vendor relationships
Experience participating in large network overhaul projects
