The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science invites applications for a part-time (.75 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term, Instructor position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.
The primary purpose of this position is to develop and deliver on-campus and online (Ecampus) courses in Oceanography for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) at OSU. This position supports the Oceanography Program's themes of elemental cycles and food webs, physical oceanography, paleooceanography, nearshore science, and land-sea interaction, emphasizing the linkages among biological, chemical, physical, and human systems and will help achieve Oregon State University's vision of inclusive excellence. Instructors in CEOAS are integral and valued members of the college who contribute to teaching, service, and the vision of our educational program's future. In addition to instruction, the incumbent will be responsible for course and curriculum development, online course and digital content development, in part in collaboration with other faculty, and coordination of online and face-to-face course content. The incumbent will also coordinate the CEOAS Summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Site Program, a National Science Foundation program funded by the Ocean Sciences Directorate matching students of potential and promise with CEOAS faculty in mentored summer research internship experiences. This position may direct student research projects and internships, serve on student committees, and is expected to contribute to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts in the Oceanography program, CEOAS, and OSU.
Typically requires Master's degree in discipline appropriate to the field of teaching/instructional tasks.
Requirements :
PhD in Oceanography or a closely related discipline by the start date of the position.
Relevant teaching experience and evidence of or commitment to inclusive excellence in teaching.
Demonstrated commitment to educational equity in a multicultural setting and a commitment to advancing the participation of diverse groups and supporting diverse perspectives.
Effective communicator in oral and written forms.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

The incumbent may work remotely as agreed upon with the supervisor, but is required to hold on-campus office hours when teaching on-campus classes.
