Detailed Job Description The RIT Center for Imaging Science, a prestigious and highly recognized academic department which grants the BS, MS and Ph.D. in Imaging Science and produces many of the nation's leaders in the field, is seeking a professional administrator to assist its Director in key outreach and coordination initiatives. The successful candidate will serve in a pivotal role for the new Industrial Associates program, engage alumni through social media and web posting, support summer intern and certificate programming, and provide administrative support to the Center Director.
The selected candidate will:
Develop a robust outreach program for the Center, including organizing and initiating a new Industrial Associates program. Coordinate semi-annual Industrial Associates events, including Director's Advisory Council meetings, student research and industry showcases, poster sessions, formatted networking sessions and invited speakers. Manage student employees and caterers during events.
Assist the Director in establishing a fee structure for Industrial Associates and Director's Advisory Council members, and play a key role in managing budgets for the program. Serve as the principal contact for alumni and other industry and government reps, creates and maintain relevant industry contact records, including alumni connections, records of fees, and prospective advancement opportunities. Communicate advancement opportunities to CIS Director and Senior Director of Advancement at the COS.
Collect and edit department news and event announcements for digital newsletter, and send to alumni and Industrial Associates on quarterly basis; create/maintain email database. Post photos/news in social media.
Coordinate and share news/contact info with COS Marketing Director and Senior Communication Specialist.
Assist Center Director and faculty in establishing Masters' degree certificate program. Coordinate enrollments with off-campus students. Review enrollments with Senior Staff Assistant and related expenditures with Senior Financial Analyst.
Arrange travel, hotel, and expense reimbursement for weekly seminar speakers, faculty candidates, and external review teams as appropriate. Schedule talks, meetings, interviews, maintaining relevant records.
Schedule meetings and arranges travel for the Director, prepare and process travel expense reports. Provide administrative support to Director on academic affairs, such as tenure and promotion, faculty annual reviews.
Organize internal meetings with faculty, staff, and Director. Take and distribute meeting minutes.
Professionally greet visitors to the Director's office and provides hospitality as needed.
Assist Associate Director in coordination with other schools and industry on summer outreach programs. Contributes to grant proposal preparation for the same.
Department/College Description CIS is an interdisciplinary university research and academic unit dedicated to advancing the frontiers of imaging science and its technical applications, enabled by its robust research portfolio and degree programs. Imaging science is a diverse field which includes all aspects of the 'imaging chain', i.e., source-to-sensor radiometry, image acquisition, image processing, and interpretation by algorithms or people. With BS, MS, and PhD programs that focus on the physics of image formation, quantitative spectral and temporal image analysis, information extraction, image processing, computer vision, and the development and application of sensor and imaging instrumentation systems, the Centers graduates are in high demand. At present, these programs comprise approximately 100 PhD students, 25 MS students, and 40 BS students. The Centers 18 core tenure-track faculty, five research faculty, and 14 research scientists are responsible for annually attracting roughly $5M of research funding, derived from funding sources that include NSF, NIH, NASA, DoD, USDA, foundations, and industry. CIS faculty have extensive internal and external collaborations (industry and national labs), and contribute to or are affiliated with RITs PhD programs in color science, astrophysical sciences & technology, microsystems engineering, and computing & information sciences.
