The Department of Landscape Architecture has two (2) non-tenure-line faculty positions available starting August 2023. Primary responsibilities include teaching support courses, studios, and seminars in our professional and post-professional programs (BLA, MLA, MUD), in teams and individually. Contract length is from one to three years based on qualifications and experience.
These are 100% teaching appointments. Teaching responsibilities will include landscape architecture courses at all undergraduate and graduate levels, and potentially interdisciplinary courses in the college.
Applicant must demonstrate the capacity to teach in design studios and one or more of the following areas: design process (e.g., land/site analysis, conceptual design, design development, construction documentation), digital applications (including GIS), traditional and contemporary graphic communication, design build, landscape ecology/environmental systems, contemporary design theory, sustainable landscape construction processes and technologies.
Ability to work in multiple teaching modalities (in-person, online, hybrid, field studies) is expected.
There may also be opportunities to engage in scholarship and service,or may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited* institution OR Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited* institution and an advanced degree OR Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited* institution and meet four of the following criteria:
2. Record of discipline-based scholarship or creative work (5+ examples)
3. Cumulative 10+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture or related discipline or 20+ years teaching experience in a professional degree program
4. Cumulative 4+ peer-reviewed professional awards
5. Cumulative 4+ invited lectures and/or presentations for professional work
6. Cumulative 2+ leadership roles in professional organizations
PhD in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution or related discipline with an established design practice/research agenda; professional licensure; exemplary studio teaching experience; willingness to teach in the Master of Urban Design Program in Indianapolis. Three to five recent years of experience in landscape architecture or related practice.
