Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree or an advanced degree in communication, organizational design, marketing, journalism, business, psychology, technology, or related fields of study.
Required Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Communications Manager or equivalent with demonstrated success in managing the communication needs of a portfolio of projects that requires translating complicated information into content that is understandable and engaging for technical and non-technical audiences. Proven success leading, in collaboration with a wide range of functional teams, the development and deployment of complex and lightweight strategic communication plans and associated multimedia, multichannel content for large and diverse audiences.
Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience working in Higher Education, technology industry, consulting, or a complex global organization. Experience with Google Workspaceâ™s suite of products; project and task management software; and content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager and WordPress.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Familiarity with gathering, interpreting, and reporting on communications engagement metrics. Must have a proven ability to assimilate technical information and createâ”or supervise the development ofâ”visually appealing, on-brand creative content that is understandable and engaging for technical and non-technical audiences. Professional history must demonstrate strong, detail-oriented analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills. Must have a keen ability to successfully interact with a diverse group of individuals at all technical levels to problem-solve, gather information, and build consensus. Must be comfortable with navigating ambiguity and uncertainty as well as shifting deadlines and priorities. Must have the ability to balance their workload and deliver organized, clear, and concise reasoning that informs strategic design and tactical support. Must have the ability to effectively track, prioritize, report on, and deliver high-quality work on both complex projects and daily operational responsibilities. Must possess exceptional interpersonal, verbal, writing, presentation, collaboration, consultation, and analytic skills. Must be able to engage responsibly with confidential information and strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to assess stakeholders that will be impacted by a project or change to understand their priorities and needs, and to identify risks or challenges that might impede adoption. Advanced skills in creating and/or supervising the creation of clear, compelling, and aesthetically-engaging content via a variety of media formats, including animation software. Familiarity with or interest in technology industry trends, cybersecurity, and popular consumer tech products. Experience with technical writing is a plus. Familiarity with digital accessibility best practices. Familiarity with HTML and CSS. Familiarity with change management and/or project management skills.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $75,000.00 to USD $125,000.00.
