The Microsoft 365 Product Manager is responsible for ensuring high adoption of Microsoft 365 products throughout the university community and advising on the delivery and release of new features to create the best digital experiences.
This role will enable Northeastern University to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by Microsoft 365 by setting the vision for the use of the suite of collaboration and management products, including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, the Power Platform, OneDrive, InTune, and Azure, and then developing and delivering implementation plans to achieve the desired results. This will involve developing a roadmap for the application of the Microsoft 365 product through coordination with the wider IT team and promoting it throughout the organization and ensuring accessibility for all users identifying opportunities for improving the use and effectiveness of the product.
Regular working hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday to Friday. To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee operate outside standard business hours when mission-critical systems are experiencing outages or degradation in service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience administrating a Microsoft 365 environment
Detailed knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite with an awareness of other technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft InTune
5+ years of experience working in a global organization (preferably higher education), successfully promoting, and improving the use of Microsoft Office 365 across business units, including identifying and filling automation opportunities
Knowledge of product management methodologies and user-centered design with experience in carrying out requirement analysis and business process re-engineering
Ability to use user needs to continuously improve the delivery of a product or IT service
Experience with PowerShell.
Experience with Windows Server
Experience working with other IT teams to scope out and design projects.
Experience with AV hardware, specifically Microsoft Teams Room Systems.
Knowledge of Windows, MacOS, and Linux
Experience rolling out a new service from scratch
Ability to track key performance metrics on service usage
Ability to troubleshoot tier 2 and 3 issues that arise with supported services
Experience with ServiceNow Incident, Interaction, and Change modules is a plus
Excited about solving problems and working through technical challenges.
Willing to 'think outside the box' to string together various tools that create a unique, properly fitting, solution using our current toolset.
Experience working in a fast-paced higher education environment preferred.
The ability to set and achieve measurable goals for themself and others.
Scrum/Agile project management experience preferred but not required.
ITIL v4 or higher certification preferred but not required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Product Management
Lead product's change management activities working with the Change Manager and Microsoft 365 Architects.
Identify, create, and maintain user stories, and develop and prioritize functional requirements for new or revised features or enhancements.
Evaluate Microsoft 365 preview features prior to rolling them out to the wider community worldwide.
Make key decisions based on preview features on priorities and design and work to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned.
Develop a thorough understanding of the Microsoft 365 suite of applications and their capabilities and stay abreast of product evolution.
Identify appropriate cross-department/division stakeholders to be engaged at appropriate time.
Understand both the engineering and business side of Microsoft 365 and ultimately responsible for representing the end-user's needs.
As needed for initiatives within this scope, lead Daily Scrums, Sprint Planning Meetings, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives, and oversee overall project activities throughout all phases of SDLC.
Support
Ensure systems are reliable and running properly.
Proactively run updates as needed.
Monitor services and identify issues early.
Triage trouble tickets to the correct escalation pathway so they are resolved quickly and effectively.
Use correct communication pathways to alert of issues and down time.
Keep systems secure and in compliance with university policies.
Roll-Out/Projects
Proactively lead and empower project team members to innovatively deliver product.
Lead software market research including RFI/RFP development, cost benefit analysis, and selection process.
Lead and manage UAT and deployment activity.
Lead and manage project vendors to ensure timely deliverables within budget and scope.
Work effectively to ensure appropriate parties are involved and engaged to achieve project goals.
Provide periodic communications to project sponsors, stake holders and management.
Attend project meetings as needed.
Work with vendor and project manager(s) to define tasks and implement solutions.
Recommend configurations and settings based on use case, audience, and prior experience.
Work with other IT teams as needed to properly secure, authenticate, automate, and communicate new services.
