Position Announcement:
The Department of Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) is seeking outstanding candidates for two Tenure track faculty positions in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics and IU Center for Aging Research at Regenstrief Institute. The appointments will be made at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, as appropriate. Candidates should have an MD/DO and/or PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in public health, clinical research, health services, gerontology, behavioral and social sciences, allied health or a related field. Physician candidates should be ABIM certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and/or Palliative Medicine or ABIM board-eligible by having completed a Geriatrics and/or Palliative Medicine fellowship and have demonstrated competence in research and the practice and teaching of clinical general internal medicine, geriatrics and/or palliative medicine. Candidates also should have demonstrated excellence in patient-oriented research or clinical aging research. Applicants are expected to have publications in the field and to have or be eligible for extramural funding and/or career development award funding and to ultimately develop an independent research program in aging research.
The successful candidates will be instrumental to growing the division and the center's culture of collaborative, impactful research. The candidates will lead or contribute to applications for centers of excellence, new, innovative areas of aging research, research training programs, and similar collaborative initiatives to enhance our research enterprise. Areas of special research interest in the division and center include: healthy aging including lifestyle health behavior; brain health and prevention of cognitive impairment; cognitive impairment in aging including Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and delirium; palliative care and supportive care; end of life care; family caregiving; health equity and social determinants of health; delivery of care and transitions across settings; nonpharmacologic therapies; medical decision making; models of care for older adults; technology and digital health to support older adults and family caregivers; and implementation science.

The Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, within the Department of Medicine, is one of the largest in the country with over 300 faculty involved in teaching, service, and research. The division includes primary care, geriatrics, hospital medicine, palliative medicine, and global medicine and ethics. The IU Center for Aging Research is a collaborative effort between the IU School of Medicine and the Regenstrief Institute. Faculty at the center focus on research topics that affect the aging population, including brain health, decision-making, physical fitness, transitional care, nursing home care, and medication use.
