Job Responsibilities The Application Programmer 4 will support the development of enterprise-wide applications for the Digital CoLab. This individual will work in project teams comprising of developers and designers to develop software applications from front-end to back-end. This position will support the creation of scalable software applications meant to improve the healthcare outcomes of our patients and simultaneously bridge the digital divide between patients, clinicians, and technology. The candidate will author and review technical and non-technical documentation to ensure that the newly created solutions are easily replicated by other health systems. They will be a member of project teams to complete technical, front-end to back-end projects successfully, within budget, and on time. This position reports to the Technical and Clinical leadership of Digital CoLab in Innovation Technology Division of UC Davis Health.
Required Qualifications: Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
5+ years of experience developing applications and digital solutions from front-end to back-end.
Experience working with cloud infrastructure including interfacing with DevOps teams and understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based containerized deployments.
Experience designing, authoring, and reviewing user documentation as well as writing functional, detailed technical specifications for applications.
Experience managing technical projects successfully from beginning to end.
Extensive and demonstrated ability to program using one or more of the following programming languages (Python, Java, JavaScript).
Advanced technical skills and extensive experience using front-end Javascript frameworks (Angular or React) for web application development.
Experience working in a team, working with other developers and/or programmers to successfully complete projects.
Excellent debugging, problem solving, and testing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in computer science, engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience working with or in an innovation hub of a major organization.
Experience working with enterprise-level applications and has a thorough understanding of privacy and security surrounding privileged data and information, particularly in healthcare.
Experience working with cross-platform frameworks for mobile application development such as Ionic and React Native.
Understanding of HL7 and FHIR (through R4), including SMART on FHIR integrations.
Experience working with startups and/or fast-paced, demanding cultures and environments.
Has the political acumen to interact with staff, faculty, and leadership at all levels of the organization.
Experience using project tracking software such as: Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, and Asana.
