Summary of Duties:
This position works within the College of Engineering and Architecture and the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science to support instructional and research laboratory activities performing a variety of advanced technical work in the design, development, modification, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, instruments, and devices.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering).
Experience performing professional-level work with scientific or engineering research protocols.
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Experimental and analytical skills.
Understanding and knowledge of research theory.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Strong experimental background.
Hands-on experience with design and fabrication of experimental components.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Familiar with basic laboratory equipment (e.g. control hardware, oscilloscopes, such as a lathe, mill, drill press, etc.).
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Good computer skills, including experience with technical/design programs.
Must have fine motor skills.
Able to climb up and down stairs in the laboratory, and move equipment as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or 2 years related industry experience.
Experience with the design, development and fabrication of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering laboratories.
Experience working within a Higher Education institution.
