Job Description:
Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Program Specialist I. This role coordinates the day-to-day details to support project tasks and objectives for the USDA Climate-Smart Commodities âHorizon IIâ Award, a $10 million, five-year project with multiple partnering organizations.
Responsibilities to support Horizon II and the adjacent âC-CHANGE Grass2Gasâ project include:
Coordination of project activities (e.g. team meetings and communications) across multiple research labs and organizations
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project records
Updating team leadership on progress towards project objectives
Communicating with the project manager, Principal Investigators (PIs) and various team leaders, students, postdocs, and staff
Assisting the project manager in liaising with USDA, project evaluator, and other external partners
Monitoring compliance with sponsor policies, procedures, and deadlines
Communicating project goals, outputs, outcomes, and impacts through diverse modes
The successful candidate will be team-focused, show initiative, and have the capacity to help others work together to achieve shared goals. Qualities beneficial to project management, such as time management, attention-to-detail and good organizational skills, are expected. The candidate should be an effective ambassador, be comfortable with science communication, and demonstrate active listening skills along with excellent written and oral communication skills. A candidate that demonstrates curiosity and a willingness to learn and problem solve will be successful in this position.
This is a regular with term appointment(fixed term) position with a term end date of 6/30/2025. This position has the opportunity for renewal.
Occasional travel will be required in this position.
