PARISHarts is seeking a creative, dedicated, and student-centered individual to teach Middle School visual arts. This role will be responsible for teaching visual art classes to 5th through 8th grade students and serving as a Middle School advisor. The successful candidate will have experience with visual art pedagogy, assessment, and curriculum development, an in-depth knowledge of both traditional and digital visual art media, and a love of working with Middle Schools students. In addition, excellent communication skills, professionalism, and tact in dealing with parents, colleagues and students is a must. The Middle School Visual Art teacher plays a vital role in our vertical alignment of curriculum and in cultivating our young artists. A team player and strong spirit of collaboration with our visual art team are important elements we’re looking for in a successful candidate. Involvement in student life and curricular development is an expectation of all teachers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and execute lessons to help students achieve competence and meet subject-area objectives.
Prepare student work for exhibit, including matting or mounting, labels, and assignment information.
Collaborate with other art teachers in joint course offerings and experiences.
Select contests and exhibits for students to participate in and supervise work preparation and submission.
Conduct parent teacher conferences at scheduled intervals and on an as needed basis.
Manage and monitor student learning.
Act as the advisor for one section of students. Advisors serve as the point person for communication with the parents of the advisory students.
Assist with extracurricular activities as assigned.
Prepare course resources, including teaching and testing materials, articles, workbooks, manuals, and assignments.
Collaborate with the visual art faculty, curriculum coordinator, and Director of PARISHarts on the continued evolution of the visual art program.
Adhere and aspire to Parish Episcopal “Characteristics of Effective Teaching”.
Promote the School’s statement of mission and philosophy.
Prepare students for future study and make proper course recommendations.
Maintain professional credentials as required by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) or other accrediting agencies.
Collaborate with colleagues.
Attend all required faculty meetings and professional development days.
All other duties as assigned.

Attends school events such as Middle School back-to-school night, Admission Open Houses, Field Trips/Class Trips, gallery opening and other PARISHarts events
