Plans, organizes, and coordinates the flow of public information including news, radio, and television and social media, to the community pertaining to District events and activities.
Directs, develop, implement and oversee a quality public affairs and communications program.
Prepares, edits and publishes news releases, publications and promotional materials in compliance with policies, regulations and guidelines concerning public information.
Confers with District and site personnel regarding newsworthy items and other matters related to publicizing events and student activities.
Performs a variety of photographic services at Board meetings, student activities and events/functions and provides news media groups with photographs and film.
Prepares copy and places advertisements on social media outlets and/or with the local news media and statewide publications.
Establishes and maintains public information and advance news data files and records for use in the development of news release and feature stories.
Participates in a variety of special projects concerning community relations and communications.
Reviews, analyzes and evaluates the District's public information program and prepares recommendations pertaining to program enhancement and improvement.
Presents staff development and in-service training on communication topics including styles, branding, marketing, writing techniques and documentation in resolving confrontational situation or adverse action matters.
Supervises the planning, scheduling and daily operation of the social media, television/video communications production programming and staff. Represents the district on advisory agencies and boards.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with district administrators, press and news media organizations, business leaders, community groups, city officials, and the public.
Support ongoing branding initiatives by project managing the work of external consultants and internal contributors.
Design and maintain use of various communications templates across the District, such as PPTs, Letterhead, E-mail Signatures, etc.
Draft ad-hoc emails, talking points, and other content designed to communicate with multiple audiences, as needed.
Oversees video production.
Oversees maintenance of district website and social media and contributes weekly stories about students and events in the district in a timely fashion.
Communicates with all levels of district staff, officials, members of the media, and the general public, both verbally and in writing.
Collaborates closely with building administration to communicate publicly events and functions occurring in the school setting.
Conducts research and prepares informational material which will enhance the District's image and public awareness of district operations and activities.
Compiles reports from a wide variety of sources and data.
Responds to citizen and media requests in a timely, professional manner.
Understands and follows district oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions.
Makes sound and reasonable decisions in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and established procedures.
Performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy, meeting time sensitive deadlines.
Serves as main information source for all media contacts requesting data and insights.
Establishes processes to generate appropriate flow of press releases.
Arranges, facilitates, and manages media briefings with Superintendent daily, if appropriate.
Collaborates with the Executive Leadership Team in the development and/or revision to Board policies relating to all areas of communications, including but not limited to print, electronic, and social media communication.
Prepares and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements relating to district communications.
Performs such other tasks and assumes other such responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Deputy Superintendent or Superintendent.
