Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree, plus two (2) years of related experience may be considered. Two (2) years of full-time related experience in transportation demand management or other community programs (I.E. non-profit programs, student affairs programs, etc.). Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Preferred Qualifications: Program development. Grant writing experience. Experience working with Transportation Demand Management software (TDM).
Brief Description of Duties: The TDM Coordinator manages Stony Brook University's and Stony Brook University Hospital's transportation demand management (TDM) programs. This position focuses on managing and promoting transportation and efficient commuting options to/from/around Stony Brook University and assists the department in identifying, planning, and implementing strategic initiatives. It also assists with Parking Service Center operations, helping to provide excellent customer service.
Alternative Transportation Management:
Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, plan, develop, market, innovate, implement, and evaluate TDM programs, services and events, and recommend policies to improve university TDM programs.
Direct the operation of the bike share program.
Collect and analyze transportation data, including data from surveys, which will support university funding, policy and program decisions.
Work with the Office of Sustainability to advocate for, plan, implement and manage university-owned electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, oversee the implementation of transportation-related strategies and initiatives as it relates to the university's Climate Action Commitment.
Represent the university's TDM-related needs in the programming and construction of alternative transportation-related infrastructure.
Communication and Customer Service:
Develop and maintain positive collaboration and working relationships with stakeholders and constituents, both on and off campus.
Present information on transportation and TDM with university constituent groups to explain and advocate for alternative transportation policies and programs and advance Alternative Transportation regionally and statewide as a leader in TDM.
Serve on university, local and regional committees focused on TDM programs and initiatives.
Participate in meetings, conferences, and other professional forums to keep abreast of transportation trends, emerging strategies, community discussions, and social and political problems, and their relevance to and impact upon TDM programs.
Collaborate with the Division's communication director to coordinate alternative transportation marketing and outreach plans and develop an annual marketing and outreach plan for non-SOV modes.
Provide content for websites, fliers, pamphlets, and other digital and printed promotional materials.
Plan and execute special events and other outreach efforts with on- and off-campus audiences.
Coordinate programs and communications related to MAPS safety efforts around traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
Business Operations:
Serve as the contract administrator for TDM service providers, managing Stony Brook University's relationship, monitoring the budget, and analyzing operational metrics.
Assist in the identification of grant opportunities, completion of grant applications, and management of awarded grants in support of alternative transportation programs.
Assist with Service Center operations as needed.
Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,026 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
