Full-time position available on or after March 1, 2023 for KECK Operating.
Under the supervision of the CAHSS Dean, and in coordination with faculty, this position is responsible for supporting the ongoing and developing needs of computer-based instructional labs associated with Geographic Information Systems, Music Technology, and other CAHSS programs, including server setups and maintenance and user consultation.
Job Duties Duties include but are not limited to:
Ensure that the Language, Music, and Geography labs are fully operational and secure.
Analyze and monitor system performance and usage.
Coordinate lab operations and projects.
Schedule facility use and ensure proper staffing.
Ensure lab assistants are trained in lab policies and procedures.
Monitor facilities software and inventories.
Maintain student database on all assigned servers.
Assign students to proper Active Directory groups.
Ensure proper maintenance and support of labs.
Re-install damaged or deleted software.
Maintain lab file/network servers and all lab stations.
Troubleshoot errors in system operation and initiate repairs.
Ensure that equipment and systems are in good condition and are properly maintained.
Perform semi-annual reconfiguration on all lab workstations.
Replace faulty parts on lab workstations.
Evaluate replacement alternatives.
Perform equipment and system set ups on new and replaced equipment.
Configure laptops for student checkout for Geography and Music.
Perform the installation of equipment and/or systems in a timely manner ensuring appropriate installation and connections.
Assist in planning and implementing installations and/or facility layouts.
Install and test workstations, printers and other peripherals.
Determine routing and placement of cabling, wiring, etc.
Configure systems to optimize operations, meet connectivity needs and future expansion requirements.
Recommend equipment/system configuration and interface alternatives.
Participate in system enhancement and equipment evaluation and planning.
Implement system/equipment upgrade migration and required modifications.
Reconfigure and test newly installed systems.
Alert network staff to network failures.
Prepare and maintain documentation on systems and networks.
Coordinate with OIT regarding virtual servers and SQL server and participate in user group meetings.
Provide workstation support for-hardware and systems software interfaces.
Install and configure standard operating and network systems and integrate them with related systems.
Ensure system integrity between hardware and operating systems.
Troubleshoot errors in system operations and related networks.
Perform software and hardware modifications.
Maintain and support hardware and software for stand-alone systems.
Administer and/or maintain a LAN, file server.
Provide consultative support and services to the lab user community, to ensure problem resolution and system/data access.
Provide on-site support.
Install, configure, and modify applications, databases and other systems.
Maintain and update College and department websites.
Provide training and/or communication materials to users/student assistants/staff that maximize their ability to utilize system capabilities, features, and other resources.
Develop and/or conduct formal training programs, equipment orientations and demonstrations, and self-guided tutorials on equipment, applications, and related systems.
Write user documentation, user guides, instructor guides, training guides, and technical training publications.
Provide technical advice and expertise in evaluation, purchase, upgrading, and maintenance of software and/or hardware resources.
Research available products and systems and recommend alternatives to meet identified needs.
Participate in needs assessments and evaluate potential purchases for compatibility with existing systems.
Hire lab assistants.
Supervise and train student lab assistants.
Maintain current work schedule.
Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate support.
Ability to integrate multiple applications and/or systems.

Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, information systems, educational technology, telecommunications, or related fields, or equivalent education, training, position. Experience: Full-time equivalent of 4 years of directly related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledgeable/familiarity with Midi/Digital Audio and GIS systems/software.
Experienced in a university or customer service operation performing duties comparable to the level of this position.

Salary Range Anticipated salary will be $4,678 - $5,380 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. (Full Information Technology Consultant (Career) range: $4,678 - $11,547 per month)
