The Office of Student Wellness (OSW) provides integrated wellness programs, services, and resources to the Boston Health Sciences students at Tufts University. The Student Wellness team works with all students to offer practical approaches to manage everyday stressors and life challenges. OSW provides confidential and private advice for personal challenges and makes referrals for therapy/psychiatric care as needed for students who may need support for depression, anxiety, or other mental health concerns. The Office of Student Wellness offers wellness opportunities that are inclusive and promotes a culture that supports the personal development and academic successes of all students. These wellness opportunities aim to foster and support the mental, physical, and emotional health of students. Prevention is the cornerstone for maintaining optimal health and is part of OSW’s holistic approach to health and wellness. The Student Wellness team is made up of a trained and experienced staff that provides advice to students, and designs and implements evidence-based wellness promotion programs to improve overall health, wellness, and academic performance for all health sciences students.
What You'll Do
Trained and experienced to design and implement evidence-based and cost-effective wellness activities to improve the overall well-being of the students on the Boston Health Sciences campus.
Collect and analyze data to identify needs prior to planning, implementing, and evaluating programs designed to encourage a balanced well-being. Assist with the oversight of program inquiries system and handling of incoming communication in an expedient and professional manner.
Provide day to day administrative support for the Office of Student Wellness, including responding to phone, email, and in-person inquiries from students and other members of the community.
Other major functions include overseeing social media including Instagram.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Keep records of program utilization and additional data points
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key constituents across the Health Sciences campus
Participate in new student orientations
Co-produce the weekly wellness newsletter
Ability to remain organized and productive in high demand periods required
Ability to respond promptly, directly, and effectively handle inquiries and requests for service while managing competing demands.
Assist in the planning, marketing, and execution of all wellness activities such as monthly wellness gathering, bi-weekly pop-up-teas, monthly massages, and yoga
Manage the reservation process for all wellness workshops and activities
Assist in the coordination of Wellness Week, Winter Recharge, Stress Less week and other large-scaled wellness activities
Manage the student wellness calendar
Monitoring and updating wellness information on TUSM Significant Others Facebook page
Design invitations, determines venue, coordinates materials, audio visual or other set-up needs for lunchtime lunch and learn sessions
Arrange for payments or honoraria for guest speakers and other vendors
Coordinates logistics for off campus wellness events.
Provide phone support and triage calls when needed
Provide information and assistance to students and visitors to Student Wellness Advising office
Schedule student wellness advising appointments when needed
Maintain office supply inventory and order supplies as needed
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher in health education or related field from an accredited institution required. Minimum of two year of full-time professional experience in student activities, health promotions environment or related college student affairs experience or a combination of education and experience
Demonstrated experience with, and sensitivity to, individuals of diverse cultural background and a commitment to a diverse community
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent presentation skills
Knowledge with advanced Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data management and digital systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working in a higher education setting strongly preferred.
Ability to work in a highly trafficked space with multiple interruptions.
Experience working with a multicultural community would be helpful.
Ability to multitask with attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy of data and maintain focus.
Ability to always maintain professionalism and to use sensitivity in dealing with person and confidential information.
Some evening and weekend work is required due to special events.
