Description of Work:
The primary duties of this position will be to lead wind tunnel operations, research duties and report writing. The candidate will also assist with field plot research including spray drift management, pest management studies and pesticide efficacy studies according to established procedures and guidelines. Duties will include planting, spraying, data collection, harvesting, data entry and operation and maintenance of research equipment. This person will also be responsible for helping with greenhouse and laboratory research related to pesticide applications. Record data pertaining to experimentation. Operate research equipment, sprayers and trucks. Summarize experimental results. Communicate with the research manager, investigators, summer help, graduate students, industry professionals and clientele. Position will warrant the ability to obtain a Nebraska private pesticide applicators license within six months of hire. Position is located in North Platte, NE.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or closely related field plus two (2) years' experience in agricultural research or farm production required. Knowledge of chemical applications. Ability to maintain and operate research equipment such as Sympatec lasers, wind tunnel testing equipment, high speed video cameras, sprayers and pesticide application technology equipment. Working knowledge of agronomic practices, weed science and research project protocols including data collection and analysis. Ability to operate and maintain laboratory research equipment. Experience in report writing. Computer skills required. Project management and supervisory skills required to determine priorities and manage schedules. Ability to obtain a private pesticide applicator's license in Nebraska.
All applicants must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to pass a DMV background check authorizing them to operate university vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidate will have experience with basic computer programs (spreadsheets, word processors, presentations). Working knowledge of pesticide application technology research equipment (SympaTec lasers, etc.) Experience with laboratory operations is preferred. Experience with software applications such as SAS and ARM preferred. Project and leadership skills required to determine priorities and manage schedules.
