Position Summary
The Manager of Data and Reporting will provide leadership to Advancement Programs in the design and use of alumni, friend, and donor data. Work with Advancement Services and other Advancement staff to facilitate data projects and deliverables in collaboration with Advancement Services, other Advancement staff, WashU IT, and external vendors. Design and produce reports, audit queries and other data media to support fund-raising efforts of the University and to fulfill external data requests. Expert-level knowledge of the Alumni & Development Information System (ADIS), its data, and how that data can support WU activities. Coordinate deadline-driven projects for the team and provide direct supervision of a team of Senior Report Analysts. Oversee the analysis of data projects based on University Advancement strategies to evaluate existing and upcoming initiatives and campaigns. Gather and transform large data outputs into innovative analytic solutions that effectively support the advancement of University Advancement. Serve as a data and reporting subject matter expert resource for advancement system replacement project, assisting with the assessment, analysis, auditing, and preparation of system data in advance of system migration. This position reports to the Senior Director of Advancement Services.
Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Produce and distribute accurate and reliable data outputs from ADIS.
Review and evaluate user requests. Responsible for producing and/or overseeing fulfillment of the most complex and sensitive data outputs.
Design solutions and develop programs to standardize frequent requests, as well as address special requests for programming needs.
Conduct analysis on data and assist in the development of improved reporting to University Advancement.
Assist in maintaining the integrity of the ADIS database through scheduled audits, control of data entry, and file and systems balancing.
Manage the data reporting and analytics functions of University Advancement.
Manage high-impact data projects in collaboration with advancement partners or other university departments.
Execution of priorities established in conjunction with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration and Advancement Services and the Senior Director of Advancement Services.
Maintain and implement controls and procedures to ensure adherence to University and department policies related to data governance and management.
Document data reporting and analytics processes and business rules.
Coordinate data related projects for three-person team, with direct supervision of the Senior Report Analysts.
Serve as a data and reporting subject matter expert resource for the University Advancement system replacement project.
Participate in the joint Advancement/IT data and reporting working group, providing guidance and insight related to data definitions, business rules, and data usage.
Participate in data-related project work, including assessment, analysis, auditing, and preparation of system data in advance of system migration.
Participate in reporting-related project work, including inventory, assessment, analysis, and requirements for reporting and analytics needs in the new Advancement system.
Participate in other university and department-wide IT and data related projects as needed.
Other Functions
Oversee continuous training of University Advancement staff on data requests and data usage, including guidance on improved use of the ADIS system.
Work with Help Desk and Training Resources to develop responses to commonly asked questions.
Lead classroom sessions and brainstorming/needs assessment sessions as needed.  Â
Oversee project list of user data requests.
Work with colleagues to develop, implement, and review quality and scheduling controls to ensure production schedules are maintained and outputs are accurate.
Document all production jobs including timing and distribution.
Maintain ongoing communication with colleagues to ensure accuracy and timeliness of user requests and other projects. Use this information to assist in managing workflow for department.Â

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Reporting Services, including Cognos and/or Tableau.
Familiarity with MS SharePoint.
Familiarity with HTML.
Prior experience in a higher education technology environment.
Advanced knowledge of University Advancement data structure.
Experience in manipulating and analyzing large, complex data sets related to Advancement programs.
Able to set priorities and handle a constantly changing environment.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to think strategically and analytically and to plan and implement effectively.
Demonstrated success as a team member able to work effectively within a complex organization across multiple units dealing with diverse constituents toward development objectives and building effective working relationships.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects effectively; a highly organized work style is essential.

Required Qualifications
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent work experience.
Three to five years of programming and business analysis experience including three years of experience with SQL.

Salary Range
$63,900.00 - $109,100.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
