This position will be based on our campus in Cambridge, MA, in a hybrid work environment. This is a one-year time-limited position.
ADVANCEMENT SOLUTIONS: Advancement Solutions within Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D) sits at the intersection of the rapidly evolving landscapes of business program operations, business intelligence, data science, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), technology, and customer service. The team sustains critical systems, business processes, operations, and customer service for staff, alumni, and donors.
The Project Manager will play a vital role in coordinating and managing projects with strategic impact for AA&D. This key role will lead project teams comprised of developers, AA&D staff members, and external partners. The project manager will work with business partners across the university and interface with senior leadership in leading projects. The Project Manager will plan, conduct, and supervise the completion of projects across the organization. The Project Manager will help to innovate and drive change. This role may manage multiple projects simultaneously.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Planning
Assemble and lead project teams, governance groups, and focus groups to ensure timely completion of project
Execute project planning, discovery, requirements gathering, and risk assessments
Serve as expert regarding scope and project objectives, solution's business value and technology, as well as the role and function of each team member
Identify and analyze project constraints and assumptions and highlight dependencies between project activities
Serve as primary contact with user groups and stakeholders
Absorb and leverage project related technology to ensure effective project management and collaboration
Ensure work completion within schedule, budgetary and design constraints using collaboration, negotiation, and influencing without direct authority
Make independent decisions within the confines established by sponsors/business owners
Lead the solution of complex business problems, resolve open questions, and identify action items that inform the project plan
Leverage project governance structures for decision-making, issue resolution, change management, and communications
Create/review/update functional, project, and/or technical documentation including but not limited to charters, application overviews, requirements, test plans, process maps, and user guides.
Serve in the capacity of business process analyst, business analyst or quality assurance analyst as needed per project
Develop, and deliver training materials and workshops for technology used by staff.
Understand and maintain compliance with all regulatory bodies and University policies. Collaborate with Deputy Director to develop policies and procedures for the business to meet these standards.
Collaborate with Talent Management on change management and communication plans and methods.
Advise leadership and key stakeholders regarding post project operations and ongoing operational resource needs.
Lead or advise on change management and communication.
Lead the development and adoption of policies and best practices.
Minimum of five years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Experience using software tools to apply project management practices
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals
Attention to detail and ability to produce clear documentation
Excellent customer service skills and public speaking and presentation skills required.
Communicates effectively with technical staff and non-technical staff.
Must be motivated to learn, flexible to change, curious, and innovative
Ability to solve complex problems in creative and effective way
Proficiency with MS Office required.
Minimal travel required, conferences or peer meetings. Some evening and weekend work required.

Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred
Work is performed in an office setting
