NCID seeks to fill a new position to manage its new Transforming Higher Education Leadership Project. This is a three-year, term-limited position and funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and is a part of their Postsecondary Success Transformation portfolio which focuses on (1) understanding how colleges and universities transform themselves to dramatically improve their performance and eliminate student success gaps by race and income; and (2) translating that understanding into tools, methods, and resources to help more colleges and universities transform for equitable student success. These goals are designed to support and accelerate institutional transformation through a dynamic ecosystem of critical partners and networks.
This role will manage, plan, direct and oversee all program components and operations of the Transforming Higher Education Leadership project.
Program Planning Development and Implementation
Ensure compliance with grant proposals for services delivered and populations reached
Serve as the liaison to ensure focus on a common goal between the Gates Foundation, NCID and U-M stakeholders.
Support the development of digital engagement initiatives that support institutional leadership and transformation. This includes building an infrastructure and sustainability plan
Develop long and short-term strategic plans to ensure program advancement and improvement
Work collaboratively with internal and external staff, faculty and students to develop programs and activities.
Stay abreast of local and national new leadership development programs and scholarship.
Follow up on written, telephone and email contact with local and national partners which includes faculty members, administrators and representatives from higher education organizations.
Track program participation and outcomes for program participants
Implement, and host webinars and activities that support learning and development for change agents and that promote equity-minded leadership principles.
Outreach and Marketing
Write, design, publish and distribute informational materials
Represent NCID to appropriate local and national constituencies
Develop social media and web presence
Develop, coordinate, and implement program specific dissemination and marketing plans
Human Resources
Train, mentor and supervise student staff
Set and adjusting hours, work schedules and rates of pay
Conduct periodic staff reviews/evaluations
Fiscal Management
Plan, manage, and monitor budget
Prepare annual and periodic budget and programming reports as needed
Bachelor’s degree in education, policy, social work, psychology, sociology, anthropology, ethnic studies, critical studies or related field
Three to five years experience working within an academic community, or related experience
Strong background and understanding, grounded in the latest research/scholarship, of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education and society
Demonstrated project management and administrative skills. Ability to set priorities, work simultaneously on numerous tasks, strong attention to detail, and able to meet competing deadlines. Ability to self-advocate and articulate resources needed for individual and team success
Experience editing, producing, or similarly contributing to academic and/or non academic publications
Experience communicating, building relationships and working with a very diverse group of colleagues, faculty, staff, and students.
Experience supervising student staff.
Superior interpersonal skills. Positive customer service-oriented attitude, flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as a team member.
Proficient on a computer and at ease operating Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite and software/applications related to social media and digital engagement.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new computer software and technologies
Master’s degree in relevant field
Experience with program evaluation and assessment
The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $75,060. Please note the salary offer may be higher based on equity and the selected candidate's experience
