FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college offering 60 associate and bachelor???s degree programs in downtown Brooklyn. The Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering Technology (ETET) department at City Tech invites applications for a lecturer position to begin in the spring or fall 2023 semester. This is a full-time faculty position that leads to a Certificate of Continuous employment (CCE).
The ETET department???s associate degree program in electrical engineering technology prepares graduates for careers as electronic technicians. The baccalaureate program in electrical engineering technology (BTech) prepares graduates for careers as electrical technologists. The BTech program builds upon the skills learned in the first two years and adds more advanced study in data communications, coding, computer systems, satellite, fiber optic communications, power systems, control systems, and power electronics among several other emerging telecom and electrical technology courses. Both programs are accredited by ETAC of ABET. The department is composed of highly qualified faculty, some well-recognized internationally. The employers of graduates include Citicorp, MTA, Verizon, and Con Edison among others.
The department seeks a professional who is dedicated to teaching, curriculum development, and student advisement, and who can contribute to the department???s continuous work in upgrading and further developing our laboratories. Faculty members in the department teach a wide spectrum of courses, from basic electrical and electronic concepts to modern telecommunications, including support for emerging applications.
The position requires a commitment to teaching excellence, sustained service to the department, college and university, and regular involvement, as assigned, in academic advisement, recruitment efforts, assessment and accreditation, and self-governance. The successful candidate will function collaboratively in department level efforts, playing an active role in the creation, development, and assessment of department curricula and in sustaining the academic vitality of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, and the ability to teach successfully.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A masters or a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), or a related field, a PE license, and a minimum of three years of teaching/industrial experience is strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in electrical engineering technology with an emphasis in one of the following fields: analog and digital electronics, power systems, or control systems.
VACCINE VERIFICATION
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
COMPENSATION
$69,665 - $88,998

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
