Departmental Overview
Cal Student Central (CSC) reports to Financial Aid and Scholarships (FASO) and is part of the Admissions and Enrollment (A&E) cluster in the Division of Student Affairs. Cal Student Central provides advising and assistance for students, families, and campus partners who have questions related to financial aid and scholarships, student billing, registration, transcripts, veteran's services, residency. In addition to advising, Cal Student Central provides transactional services for those individual areas.
This position will reside in Cal Student Central, with a dotted reporting line to the Office of the Registrar.

Responsibilities
Works with management and internal clients to create, develop, and implement long and short-term strategic communications plans for the UC tuition stability plan, and/or other projects as assigned.
Manages comprehensive communications programs, identifies communication needs, and produces a variety of communication pieces including written, visual, digital, and electronic communications.
Updates any webpages devoted to tuition stability and related Admissions and Enrollment, Office of the Registrar, and Financial Aid and Scholarships Office processes.
Advises and consults with divisional and partner offices regarding all aspects of communications including developing strong communications strategies that effectively deliver the desired message, policy interpretation, and problem resolution.
Supports change management communications.
Provides staff training and training guides as needed regarding the UC tuition stability plan and related initiatives.
Ensures production of high-quality products that effectively deliver the desired message within budget and time constraints.
Reviews all communications through an equity lens, applying principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice (DEIBJ) fluency.
Serves as project manager or communications lead on a variety of projects including web redesigns and other projects.
Develops a professional development plan and participates in development activities, such as attending classes, joining organizations, working on special projects, and serving on departmental committees, in order to enhance expertise in job areas.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short-term strategic communications plans
Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communication, active listening, and political acumen skills. Strong customer service focus.
Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn about the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and/or health sciences.
Ability to prioritize work requests and be flexible with changing work priorities.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and/or broad general audiences.
Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits.
This position is exempt and paid monthly. The annual salary for this role is commensurate with experience within the range of $80,000.00 - $100,000.00.
