Description of Work:
This position provides software development and support for UNL public information systems, including our Drupal-based content management system. Provides secondary and backup support for the events calendar, audio and video storage and presentation, email newsletters, public portfolios, etc. This role is responsible for planning, designing, developing, debugging, testing, and implementing software and applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems. This individual will evaluate requests for new or modified software applications and develop client partnerships by consulting with customers to identify current operating procedures and clarify objectives for automating and streamlining processes. An individual in this position should actively research, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, frameworks, and practices toward building secure applications. This position will uphold core principles of outstanding collaboration and communication, a drive to succeed, a passion for higher learning, and acting with integrity. Position partners in maintaining a user group for feedback and evolution of these systems. In coordination with other University Communication/Information Technology Services Digital Experience Group staff members, this position is responsible for end user and content editor technical support, as well as leading the user community and providing documentation as needed.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field plus two years of information systems experience; equivalent education/experience considered. Proficient in multiple programming languages and systems common to the job domain. PHP and MySQL experience. Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to initiate and facilitate team oriented involvement and discussions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Front-end development and mobile applications development experience. Demonstrated experience organizing tasks and deliverables. Experience in a higher education environment. HTML 5, CSS 3 (including CSS Grid), jQuery, and responsive design experience. Skilled with Drupal, code repositories, user experience, and web standards, security, and accessibility.
