The project manager (PM) will primarily support the Center for Learning Health System Sciences’ (CLHSS) Innovative Methods & Data Science program (IMDS) as well as the Natural Language Processing/Information Extraction (NLP/IE) program in the Institute for Health Informatics. With the recent launch of the CLHSS, we are working diligently to establish center operations and research program activities. This position will play a key role in establishing the project management processes for initiatives that close the gap between research and patient care and continue to support the existing NLP/IE program. The project manager will be responsible for the management of associated research projects and program initiatives and will interface and coordinate work with IT, clinical, and academic stakeholders. The PM will report to the Administrative Director and work closely with the IMDS and NLP/IE leadership teams and staff from project intake, to set priorities for portfolio management, establish work plans, assess risk and build contingency plans, and resolve issues.
Position Description: 50% - Innovative Methods & Data Science (IMDS) program
Strategize, develop and implement project plans including design, conduct, performance, monitoring, recording, analysis and reporting for IMDS projects
Managing analysts, research assistants, monitoring progress, and coordinating collaborative projects with other programs within the center
Support applicable CLHSS Services Request process for IMDS to conduct scientific assessment and guide through additional steps
Effectively manage stakeholder expectations and resource requirements to ensure ownership and success
Partner with the M Health Fairview Learning Health System Program Manager and other staff for required resources and implementation of research projects
Lead regular meetings with research teams to establish priorities, check progress, identify and resolve issues including distribution of updates and ensuring next steps are complete
45% - Natural Language Processing/Information Extraction (NLP/IE) research program
Provide recommendations to NLP/IE directors on program development plan and project intake and management process
Effectively manage stakeholder expectations and resource requirements, as well as partner with staff and faculty for development and implementation of projects to ensure ownership, alignment of shared resources, and success.
Serve as the primary pre- and post- award staff on grant preparation, submission, and management to various federal, state, and local funding sources. Responsibilities include gathering and quality checking required data and documentation, managing the approval process at departmental, college, and University levels, monitoring progress, tracking invoices, problem solving, etc.
Research potential opportunities from existing and new funding agencies. Monitors granting agency announcements, changes, etc.
Coordinate NLP personnel including research scientists, graduate students and programmers for tracking of research studies and alignment with program goals
Perform quality control checks of data and proper storage in accordance with IRB and audit requirements
Assist in writing of study results, preparing reports, and disseminating findings
Coordinate and lead regular meetings to establish priorities, check progress, identify and resolve issues including distribution of updates and ensuring next steps are complete
Work with the leadership team to develop content and maintain program websites and literature to promote NLP/IE research
5% - CLHSS Operational Management
Serve as a key member of the CLHSS operations team to enhance the development and growth of CLHSS and its strategic goals
Work with the Administrative Director to establish processes and policies for efficiency of research operations across the center
Identify/track key measures of success
Serve as a resource for CLHSS units in project management planning and best practices
Other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications:
BA/BS with at least 6 years of research/project management experience or an advanced degree plus 4 years of related experience.
Strong analytical skills
Ability to work independently, as a part of a team, and with changing priorities
Demonstrated ability to lead projects, set and maintain deadlines, prioritize assignments, proactively problem-solve
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with pre- and/or post-award grants management
Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
Experience with clinical and/or translational research
Experience with regulatory aspects (e.g. IRB and FDA) of conducting clinical research

Salary: $75-85,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
