Job Summary:
The position of Senior Director of Accreditation and Strategy will be responsible for working with leaders across the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine (KPSOM) to lead high-impact initiatives across KPSOM, including strategic planning, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement (CQI). This position will play a crucial role in developing and directing the strategic and long-term goals of the organization, working with diverse stakeholders inside and outside of KPSOM to develop an actionable strategy for the school. Integrated with this work, the position will also lead the schools accreditation function, keeping abreast of evolving accreditation standards, overseeing the preparation and timely submission of requirements of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), Bureau for Private and Post-Secondary Education (BPPE), and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission (WSCUSC) accreditation, including the processes for monitoring compliance with accreditation standards, and documenting continuous quality improvement initiatives. This position will also advise school leadership on matters related to accreditation and serve as the WSCUC Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO). The position will work closely and collaboratively with the Deans Office, senior leaders, academic and administrative units across the school on accreditation requirements and critical data for strategy, accreditation, and CQI.
Essential Responsibilities:
Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop long-range, strategic goals for the organization.
Provides oversight for the Strategic Plan review process by working with school stakeholders to collect and organize data for review by senior leadership and the KPSOM Board of Directors.
Coordinates implementation and evaluation of strategic initiatives based on the schools strategic plan.
Consults with and guides unit leaders (offices and departments) in building their capacity for development, implementation, and evaluation of unit-level strategic plans.
Identifies, reviews trends, conducts benchmarking and literature reviews to identify and review trends in higher education generally and medical education specifically; analyzes and applies this information in development of strategies for the school.
Oversees the LCME, BPPE, and WSCUC accreditation processes for KPSOM, including management of accreditation consultants.
Advises senior leadership on all accreditation requirements.
Consults with deans, department chairs, course and clerkship directors, faculty, and others regarding accreditation and quality improvement activities.
In collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer, ensures all LCME, BPPE, and WSCUC accreditation requirements are documented and processed in accordance with established timelines, including completion of annual reporting requirements and preparing for cyclical accreditation reviews and site visits.
Serves as the WSCUC Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) for the school.
Collaborates in the ongoing design and implementation of non-curricular and co-curricular program evaluation, reporting, and analysis.
In collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and Associate Dean for Assessment and Evaluation, provides leadership and oversight in conducting the LCME and WSCUC Institutional Self-Studies, including setting timelines, overseeing committee operations, developing reports, and supervising preparation of draft and final submissions of all required documents.
Works to ensure alignment of the schools website information with LCME, BPPE, and WSCUC documentation.
In collaboration with relevant leaders, communicates with appropriate administrators, committees, and project consultants to ensure alignment of accreditation requirements with CQI processes and the schools Strategic Plan.
Ensures buy-in and understanding of accreditation and CQI measures, data sources, and the overall CQI plan among administrators in all offices through education and relationship-building.
Partners with the Office of Assessment and Evaluation and others in the design and maintenance of KPSOM analytics dashboards to optimize utility for accreditation and CQI.
Manages the collection, analysis, and synthesis of pertinent accreditation and quality improvement data for communication and required reporting to relevant stakeholders and committees.
Establishes and co-chairs committees or work groups (standing or ad hoc as appropriate) to ensure operationalization of strategy, accreditation, and CQI goals.
Contributes to the development of policies, procedures, manuals, and other written communications required as supporting documentation for each of the schools accreditation processes, including but not limited to policies and procedures, handbooks, and website content.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
Minimum eight (8) years of experience in strategy, education accreditation, quality improvement and/or project management in an academic or healthcare setting.
Education

Intermediate proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Power Point, and Excel).
Ability to manipulate data within and across MS Office products.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including administration and staff and faculty from a variety of disciplines.
Ability to manage complex tasks/projects in a timely manner with a high degree of quality and to mobilize relationships and resources in a collaborative, collegial manner.
Experience in supervision of a team.

Experience developing and executing on strategic planning.
Experience implementing and managing quality improvement processes.
Experience with health professions education.
Experience with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education accreditation processes.
Masters Degree, MBA preferred.
This role pays an estimated base salary of $169600 - $219450 plus incentive pay, robust benefits and other support for those who are eligible.
