Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Theatre and Dance at Dickinson College is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Performance and Directing, beginning in July of 2023, pending funding approval. We are seeking a vibrant artist whose primary responsibilities will include teaching emergent courses on Contemporary Performance Practices, Directing, Acting for the Camera, Performance Studies/Theory, and/or courses related to the applicant's expertise or focus. In addition, the professor is responsible for directing one main stage production per year and supervising ongoing student projects, while maintaining an active professional presence. This position is a five-course load with credit given for productions directed. We are seeking an energetic, engaged, and enthusiastic colleague committed to diversity in curriculum, practice, and student engagement and ready to contribute to the intellectual life of the department. The ideal candidate will have worked in new play development and/or have some experience in at least one of the following areas: collaborative/devised theatre, digital/multimedia theatre, theatre for social change. The ability to create inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate.
