POSITION PURPOSE This position oversees the administration of WSGC grant programs, interfacing with NASA on budget and policy matters, and representing the Consortium at local, regional, and national meetings. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The William E. Boeing Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics (A&A) within the College of Engineering has an outstanding opportunity for a Space Grant Program Manager. The Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics offers the only aerospace degree program in the Pacific Northwest, a region whose aerospace industry has been a major contributor to the technological development, economic vitality and the security of the United States. Our faculty, students and alumni are at the nexus of new space, and are creating the future of automated aerospace manufacturing, novel aerospace materials, and autonomous aerospace systems. This position oversees the administration of WSGC grant programs, interfacing with NASA on budget and policy matters, and representing the Consortium at local, regional, and national meetings. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
SPACE GRANT PROGRAMMATIC MANAGEMENT – 60% •Directing daily administration and operations of Space Grant Research Group •Respond to general inquiries via phone, email, and other appropriate methods of communication. •Plan and schedule events for the WSGC and related awards, including freshman welcome, SURP reception, annual BBQ, graduation party, and other miscellaneous events and showcases. •Revise application criteria for scholarship, research, and related WSGC application processes •Gather and effectively communicate on-campus resources available to assist WSGC staff, partners, and A&A staff in meeting DEI goals •Manage compliance with APS 10.13 and serve as department liaison with the Office of the Youth Protection Coordinator •Coordinate and track training and compliance for WSGC events and programs on topics including but not limited to safety, facilities use, Youth Program Compliance, tribal sovereignty, and non-inventorial equipment •Oversee strategic development of gift funds including Husky Giving Day campaigns and coordination with the College of Engineering Advancement team. •Assist in hiring, evaluation, and supervision of undergraduate student assistants. •Coordinate and manage administration support services with WSGC/NESSP partners’/members’ university requirements and Federal Grants requirements; Create sub-awards in OSP, create BPOs in Ariba, process monthly invoices in Ariba. •Serve as primary contact for all travel related activities for space grant and back up within the A&A department. This includes oversight of compliance. •Assist with reporting summaries as needed. •Serves as office manager for the AERB 241 suite •Other duties as required, per Director, or per program needs.
DEPARTMENTAL ACADEMIC SERVICES SUPPORT - 30% •Oversee the time schedule update process for A&A •Data integrity and support for the following: oASE hiring spreadsheet oStudent admissions data •Manage textbook process •Provide event support as needed
OTHER DUTIES - 10% •Assist in identifying resources for faculty and staff development programs •Create and support professional development opportunities for staff related to new practices in topics related to DEI and project management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS •Bachelor’s degree related to human development, public administration, or other related academic discipline. •2 -3 years related work experience. •Ability to successfully organize, plan, and execute small and large-scale projects/events. •Ability to manage records and perform basic data management tasks; experience maintaining and managing data in MS Excel •Demonstrated experience in working on diverse groups and teams; respects, values, and contributes to Aero & Astro’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity. •Excellent verbal and written communications skills; demonstrated and committed to providing excellent customer service. •Flexible and resourceful; high degree of professionalism and diplomacy; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide-ranging constituency (e.g., community partners, faculty, staff, students, and institutional officers). •Ability to operate in situations of uncertainty, and trouble-shoot challenges semi-independently while demonstrating appropriate judgment and seeing projects through to completion. •Ability to interpret and apply institutional administrative compliance guidelines and practices.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS •Demonstrated ability in interpreting and applying institutional administrative compliance guidelines and practices. •Experience in successfully organizing, planning, and executing small and large-scale projects/events. •Self-starter with demonstrated experience of exceptional management, organization and communications skills in a fast-paced environment.
